Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Waterloo Madison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cranky Smith! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Madison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Madison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Smith drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Smith is standing up over Madison. Madison looks to escape but Smith dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Madison can't do much from the bottom here. Smith advances nicely into full mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Madison is trying to escape the mount but Smith keeps good control and instead manages to take Madison's back.
Smith is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Madison defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Smith is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Madison has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Madison defends it easily. Madison slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Madison defends well. Madison wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position. Smith working for submissions but it's allowed Madison to get to half guard.

Smith is looking for a sweep. Madison is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are battling for position here. Smith manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Madison defends well. Madison wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith looks winded! Madison working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Madison avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Madison slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Madison trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Madison is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Madison tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes. Madison is positioning himself well to prevent Smith advancing to mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Madison keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Smith has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Smith moves to take his opponent's back. Smith is looking for the choke from the back position but Madison is controlling his hands well. Smith patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Madison wants to escape the position.
Smith is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Cranky Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Madison shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Madison's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Waterloo Madison is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Madison is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Madison avoid being mounted? Cranky Smith has got the better of the ground game so far. Smith frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Madison stops Smith from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Smith throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Madison tries to get back to half guard but can't. Madison gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Madison stops Smith from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Madison sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Madison is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Madison avoid being mounted? Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith trying to control from half guard but Madison is working away. Smith works his way into full mount! Madison tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away. Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time. Madison defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Smith.

Smith avoids the attempt from Madison to control. Madison is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action. Madison tries to hold on but Smith postures up. Smith looking to control but Madison is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Smith avoids the attempt from Madison to control. Madison prevents Smith from taking his back. Smith controlling from the full mount. Smith is looking to work his way around to Madison's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Cranky Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
