And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 3 losses; Holden Gracie! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Squash, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Squash against the cage but Squash circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Squash half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Horrible takedown attempt by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Squash, which made it look bad. Squash attempts a counter takedown but Gracie avoids it well and moves away. Potato Squash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Holden Gracie. Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie. We've been informed that Gracie has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Squash. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Squash as he avoids it easily. Squash tries to counter with a takedown but Gracie is quick to defend against it. Gracie shoots in but no luck this time. Squash displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie. Squash drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gracie sprawls and moves away.
