It looks like Luke Venderag has been cut. No luck for Masuta with that takedown attempt. KarateO Masuta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Masuta misses with a lunging right hand

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Xiu swings widly with a right hand
and Xiu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Xiu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Diego is fending him off so far but Xiu persists. Nope, Diego circles away and we're back to standing. A jab from Xiu misses. Xiu checks a leg kick nicely. Xiu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diego.
We've been hearing reports that Xiu has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. That kick from Xiu tenderised Diego's leg. Diego is trying to keep his angry face on. Diego loads up on a big right hand but Xiu slips the punch. Diego doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Diego misses the shot to the body. Diego keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Diego has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Diego cracks Xiu with a good jab. Xiu is trying to improve his position. Xiu throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Diego controls the position. Xiu tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diego wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Xiu manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Xiu thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Diego wants to control but Xiu is keeping busy.
Xiu is nestled in close to Diego, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Smith. Smith throws a body punch but Matusov moves out of range. Matusov shoots in but no luck this time. Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Matusov shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Matusov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Matusov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boris Matusov. Matusov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Matusov is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Jones Jr takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Roy scores with a jab. Jones Jr acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Jones Jr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Roy moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. He catches Roy napping and manages to drive through into side control! Jones Jr wants to control but Roy is keeping him busy. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turturro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Turturro.
