Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Smith (ranked 6418 p4p, 619 weight class) and Steven Gull (ranked 4744 p4p, 537 weight class). Steven Gull told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eric Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Steven Gull! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gull manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure. Gull throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith stands up from guard. Let's bang! Gull tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gull throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gull off to one side. Gull dodges the punch combination from Smith.
Gull shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gull throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gull off to one side. Eric Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Gull.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gull gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Smith counters with a straight right hand. Gull fails to land the takedown. Gull looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Gull attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Smith seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Smith misses with a few strikes there.
Gull tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Gull with a lazy takedown attempt and Smith counters with a right hand to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gull. Smith is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gull off and has taken his back! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith lands a shot to the body. Smith is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Smith punches the canvas rather than the man. Smith lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Gull hold on?!
Smith thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith missing with strikes from the back. Smith tries to keep control of the position but Gull is staying busy. Gull is trying to stand back up. Smith landing with strikes. Gull covers up after that shot from Smith.
Smith lands with a hammerfist to the side of Gull's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gull is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Will Smith go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Smith somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. A lull in the action here.
Smith is working the ground and pound. Can Gull escape? Gull is trying to stand back up. Smith lands strikes to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Smith dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gull tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Smith appears to be looking for a big counter. Steven Gull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gull drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gull misses with the ground and pound. Gull trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom. Gull is trying to ground and pound but Smith uses the momentary lack of control by Gull to regain half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith is refusing to be controlled, as Gull sits in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gull is just content to waste time from the top position. Smith takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gull accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gull working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Smith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Smith is looking to break free of the clinch but Gull has double underhooks. Smith tries to break the clinch but Gull is controlling the position. Smith prevents a takedown attempt there.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Gull. A head punch blocked on the inside by Smith.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith misses with a punch to the body.
A short body shot lands from Smith as the two fighters clinch.
Smith is defending well against a takedown attempt. Smith misses with an elbow strike.
Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gull tries to clinch up. Smith is looking to counter punch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gull. Eric Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Gull. Horrible takedown attempt by Gull or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad. Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gull. Gull closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Smith bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eric Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith fails to land with a series of punches.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gull. Gull shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gull gets slowly back to his feet. Gull moves to clinch but Smith breaks away and Smith counters with a nice uppercut. Eric Smith is winning the standup battle so far. Gull shoots and misses and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Gull is looking to clinch. Eric Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gull has closed the distance and engaged Smith in a clinch.
Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gull with a poor takedown and Smith counters with a two punch combo. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gull. Gull is breathing heavily. Gull dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Gull moves forwards but Smith connects with a nice, crisp jab. Smith throws a series of punches but Gull moves out of range. Smith scores with a hook. Gull moves to clinch but Smith breaks away and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Smith dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Gull changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Gull manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gull shoots and misses and Smith counters with a left and a right that stings Gull. Gull gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Smith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Eric Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Gull. Smith defending well as Gull loads up on a big left hand. Gull fails with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gull fails with a takedown attempt. Gull takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gull shoots in but no luck this time. Smith went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Gull misses with a takedown attempt and Smith counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Gull wants to clinch. Smith lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Smith works over Gull's head and body with a nice combination. Gull looks to clinch and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gull tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily and Smith counters with a big right hand! Oh Gull is in trouble here! Smith follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bishop connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Doner's hands. Bishop scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Skop Doner has been cut. Doner shoots in and bounces Bishop off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Bishop manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Bishop stalling.
Bishop blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Doner misses with a hook from the clinch. Doner misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Doner has a couple of punches blocked by Bishop.
Doner misses with a punch to the body.
Bishop scores with an uppercut up the middle. Bishop lands a body shot. Bishop escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bishop trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Doner throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Doner in side control, throwing shots but Bishop defends. Doner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Doner misses with the ground and pound. Bishop wants to get back to his feet. Doner controlling the position from side mount. Bishop is trying to buck Doner off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doner controls the position from side control. Doner landing a few strikes. The ground and pound from Doner seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Doner laying and praying for a moment but Bishop takes advantage and regains half guard. Bishop pushes Doner off looking to stand but Doner dives back in and keeps control.
Doner sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bishop defending well though. Doner is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bishop defends it well. Doner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Doner drops an elbow to the side of Bishop's head. Bishop wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bishop knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Doner on the ground. Bishop is kicking away at Doner from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Doner grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Bishop trying to push Doner off... Bishop taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.

Lothbrok postures up in Oconner's guard and throws a big left but Oconner blocks it. Oconner looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Oconner has momentary wrist control but Lothbrok slips an elbow through the middle. Lothbrok stops Oconner from standing up. Oconner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lothbrok is one step ahead there. Lothbrok scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lothbrok pushes down on Oconner's leg and manages to get into half guard. Oconner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lothbrok connects with a nice short shot to Oconner's temple. Oconner taking some punishment here, with Lothbrok in his half guard.

Lothbrok drops an elbow to the side of Oconner's head. Lothbrok is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Oconner is just riding it out for now. Lothbrok eventually gives up the hold. Lothbrok working Oconner over with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lothbrok scores with a big shot! Oconner's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Oconner! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Mardle has knocked Adamek down with a huge combo! Mardle steps away and waves a wobbly Adamek back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Adamek is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Adamek lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mardle circles away quickly and effectively. Adamek is still on wobbly legs! Can Mardle finish him? Adamek throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mardle. Adamek drops his hands for a split second and Mardle immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Adamek face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Mardle follows up with a right hand that knocks Adamek into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hall shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Hall connects with a right hand. Turner shakes it off. Hall lands a nice shot to the body.
No luck for Hall with that takedown attempt. Turner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. We've been hearing reports that Hall has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Turner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hall smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Hall throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Turner. Hall pounces like a tiger and cracks Turner with a vicious hook! Turner is down but not out! Hall follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Okafor throws a looping overhand right but Terranova ducks down to avoid it. Okafor has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Terranova is landing a low percentage of strikes. Okafor gets tackled into the cage by Terranova. Terranova maintains the clinch. Okafor looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Okafor wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Okafor is trying to break free. Terranova has Okafor pressed against the cage, preventing Okafor from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Terranova changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Okafor fights it off and pushes away nicely.
