and Vernon counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lazurus is looking to stand up but Vernon isn't so interested in that idea.
Vernon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Vernon postures up in Lazurus's guard and throws a big left but Lazurus blocks it.
Lazurus is wriggling around but Vernon manages to pass to half guard.
Vernon looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Lazurus on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vernon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lazurus's head.
Still in half guard, Vernon seems content to control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vernon connects with a nice short shot to Lazurus's temple.

Vernon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lazurus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vernon slows the pace down in half guard.

Lazurus tries to kick Vernon off but Vernon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lazurus is trying to control but can't.
Lazurus is looking for a sweep. Vernon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vernon wants to advance to full mount but Lazurus doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Vernon looking to sit in guard and control but Lazurus gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vernon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lazurus stands and steps away. Vernon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carlito Orsini had a terrible time trying to make weight. After initially coming in at 212.7, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. Stepping on the scales for a second time, he still failed to make the required weight and after much deliberation, his fight with Michael Mason was cancelled.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kattar enables Lovanov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kattar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
