Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Maximus Meridius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Rau! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meridius blocks the body kick.
Rau lands a head kick. Meridius smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Meridius throws a leg kick which misses Rau's front leg but catches the back leg as Rau tries to avoid it. A head kick lands from Meridius that sends Rau to the canvas. Rau tries to scramble back to his feet but Meridius brings him back down into side control.
It looks like Joe Rau has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Meridius thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Meridius is working to tighten is grip on Rau's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Rau has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Meridius is really squeezing tight and eventually Rau passes out! Meridius breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Darko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Darko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Darko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gambatesa did well to prevent Darko getting side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Darko decides to return to a standing position. Gambatesa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Darko swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gambatesa is breathing heavily. Darko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Darko lands in his opponent's guard. Darko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Darko gets the takedown into side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Darko stands up and beckons Gambatesa to his feet. Darko looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Darko postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Gambatesa to stand up. Gambatesa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gambatesa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Darko sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Darko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Darko decides to stand up. Darko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Darko decides to return to a standing position. Darko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Darko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Darko shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gambatesa's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Darko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Darko gets the takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Darko decides to take the fight back to the feet. Darko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Darko stands up. Darko scores a takedown into full mount! Darko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gambatesa is looking to escape. Darko might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gambatesa kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gambatesa is in all sorts of trouble here.
Darko stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Darko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Darko lands in his opponent's guard. Gambatesa not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Darko stands up and waves to Gambatesa to follow him. Darko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gambatesa did well to prevent Darko getting side control. Darko gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Ronny Darko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Darko shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Darko was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Darko trying to control but Gambatesa is having none of it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Darko stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronny Darko dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Darko looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Darko gets to his feet - Gambatesa follows without any prompting. Darko feints and as Gambatesa raises his hands in defense, Darko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Darko stands and steps away. Gambatesa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Darko shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gambatesa is trying to defend but Darko finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Darko stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gambatesa. Nice sprawl there from Gambatesa as Darko shoots in. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Darko scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Gambatesa trying to hold on to Darko's head to control him but Darko postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Darko decides to stand back up. Darko steps back and let's Gambatesa get back to his feet. Gambatesa dives in and grabs Darko's left leg, looking for a takedown. Darko pushes down on Gambatesa's head and hops out. Darko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Gambatesa manages to get to full guard.
Darko stands up from guard. Let's bang! Darko closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Darko stands up. Darko closes the distance and clinches up with Gambatesa, looking for a takedown. Darko pushes Gambatesa against the cage but Gambatesa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Darko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gambatesa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Darko somewhat. Gambo Gambatesa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronny Darko. Darko misses with a takedown attempt and Gambatesa counters with a single leg into guard. Darko didn't expect that. Darko wants to sweep but no luck. Gambatesa drops back looking for a leg! Darko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Darko manages to kick Gambatesa off! Gambatesa jumps back into Darko's guard. Darko has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Darko looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Darko avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Darko wants to sweep but no luck. Darko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gambatesa manages to get himself to full guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Darko. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Darko gets to his feet. Gambatesa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gambatesa did well to prevent Darko getting side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Darko decides to return to a standing position. Darko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gambatesa but Gambatesa pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gambatesa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Darko as he jumps to the side. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronny Darko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Darko with a lazy takedown attempt and Gambatesa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Darko is on top in guard.
Darko decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gambatesa, up you get! Darko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gambatesa pinned against the cage. Gambatesa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gambatesa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Darko avoids it really well and circles away. Darko fails with the takedown. Gambo Gambatesa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronny Darko. No luck with that takedown attempt from Darko. Nice sprawl there from Darko as Gambatesa shoots in. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Darko decides to stand back up. Ronny Darko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Darko shoots and misses letting Gambatesa counter with a right hand. Darko closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gambatesa to the mat! Gambatesa manages to get full guard. Darko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Darko fails with the takedown and Gambatesa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Darko's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gambatesa won't allow Darko to sweep him here. Gambatesa wants to control from the top but Darko keeps moving. Darko manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Darko stands up from mount. Strange move. Darko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Darko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gambatesa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gambatesa is looking for a sweep. Darko stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Darko misses with a takedown and Gambatesa counters with a single leg into guard. Darko didn't expect that. Darko preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Darko looking for a sweep. Not yet Darko, not yet. Gambatesa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gambatesa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Darko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Darko looking for a sweep. Not yet Darko, not yet. Gambatesa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Darko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gambatesa's guard. Darko decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gambatesa, up you get! Darko shoots and misses and Gambatesa counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Darko shoots in and bounces Gambatesa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Darko wants to stand but Gambatesa is controlling his posture from full guard. Gambo Gambatesa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Darko gets to his feet. Gambatesa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Darko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gambatesa defends it nicely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gambatesa shoots in for a double leg but Darko sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gambatesa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Darko. Gambatesa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Darko as he avoids it easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Excellent takedown into side control there by Darko. Gambatesa is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Darko decides to return to a standing position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ronny Darko. I've got Darko winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Nasty. Nasty looks to throw the jab but Fury is out of range. Nasty throws the left hand but Fury avoids the punch easily. Nasty misses with a straight right. Fury rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nasty moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Fury shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nasty sprawls well. Nasty wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fury gets slowly back to his feet. Nice jab there from Nasty. Nasty misses with a body shot.

The crowd cheers as Nasty lands an impressive looking overhand right. Fury doesn't seem phased though. No joy there for Fury, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nasty takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Fury takes a shot right to the bread basket. Nasty lands a jab-cross combination. This has been an exciting period of action! Nasty thows a body shot but no joy. Fury moves out of range as Nasty strikes. Fury throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nasty was covering up waiting for the punch and Fury finishes the takedown easily into guard. Fury trying to control the position from guard on top but Nasty is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nasty is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nasty keeping full guard, as Fury tries to pass. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nasty is on top in guard.
Fury scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Fury changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nasty tries to avoid it but Fury manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nasty to the ground. Nasty escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Fury keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nasty. Richard Nasty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nasty throws a hook but Fury avoids it easily. Fury tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nasty swivels and escapes. Richard Nasty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Fury. Nasty connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fury momentarily.
Nice defenses there by Fury. Fury tries to clinch up but Nasty circles away and keeps his distance. Nasty connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Fury fails with a takedown attempt. Nasty lands a head shot. Nasty scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Fury looks gassed! Nasty lunges at Fury with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fury's hand. Nasty lands a nice shot that snaps Fury's head back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fury tries to clinch but Nasty is having none of it. Nasty lands a body shot.
Nasty lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Nasty paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Nasty swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fury. Nasty digs a good hook to Fury's body.
Nasty is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Nasty goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fury is rocked! Nasty drops Fury with a naaaaasty hook - Fury is in real trouble here! Nasty dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Need cracks Sakuraba with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Need working for a submission but Sakuraba is keeping him at bay. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sakuraba is bucking up trying to escape but Need cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Inakmas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Reis. Reis misses with an uppercut. Inakmas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Reis. A slow jab from Reis misses its intended target. Rodrigo Reis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Inakmas shoots for a double leg takedown but Reis sprawls well. He's pushed Inakmas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Inakmas scores with a shot to the body.
Reis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Reis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Inakmas stalling in the clinch.
Inakmas has Reis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Inakmas pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Reis tumbling to the mat - Inakmas dives into Reis's guard. Reis controls Inakmas momentarily but Inakmas frees himself. Reis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Inakmas preventing the sweep. Inakmas trying to control but Reis is working from the bottom. Reis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Inakmas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
