The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridius blocks the body kick.
Rau lands a head kick. Meridius smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Meridius throws a leg kick which misses Rau's front leg but catches the back leg as Rau tries to avoid it.
A head kick lands from Meridius that sends Rau to the canvas. Rau tries to scramble back to his feet but Meridius brings him back down into side control.
It looks like Joe Rau has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Meridius thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Meridius is working to tighten is grip on Rau's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Rau has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Meridius is really squeezing tight and eventually Rau passes out! Meridius breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
