The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pimba throws a series of punches but Marx moves out of range. Pimba gets caught flat footed, as Marx shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marx sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marx throws a big right hand that misses. Marx wants to pass the guard but Pimba is keeping the position. Marx is looking to work some ground and pound but Pimba has wrist control. We've been hearing that Marx has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Marx is stalling in the full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pimba can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marx connects with a couple of short punches. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marx throwing strikes from guard but Pimba blocks nicely.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. A combination from Pimba does no damage. Marx instigates a clinch. Pimba breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marx clinches. Marx wants to take the fight to the mat but Pimba manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Marx tries for a takedown. No joy.
Pimba is trying to force a seperation but Marx has the dominant position. Marx is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pimba is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karl Marx. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marx wants to take the fight to the mat but Pimba manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Marx pushes Pimba back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Marx fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pimba sprawls well initially but Marx persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Marx not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Marx is working for a kimura but Pimba is defending it quite comfortably.
Marx is trying to control the action in half guard but Pimba is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Marx lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Marx lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pimba is staying active underneath Marx, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Marx looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pimba with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Marx will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marx trying to control the pace. Pimba avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Marx. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marx is trying to control. Pimba wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Marx looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Marx not doing much here.

Pimba knows he should have avoided that one. Marx tries to close the distance and clinch but Pimba swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pimba bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Marx's head. Pimba gets tackled into the cage by Marx. Marx maintains the clinch. Pimba stops a takedown attempt from Marx.
Marx is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pimba pulls him back up using the underhooks. Pimba is pressed up against the cage. Marx has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pimba down to the mat. Pimba avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karl Marx. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pimba throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marx. Marx connects with a nice looking jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pimba moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Marx goes down! Can Pimba finish him!? Marx is rocked! Pimba throws a big right hand that misses. Oh Marx is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Marx wants to stand but Pimba is controlling the position. Marx seems to have got his legs back now. Pimba is looking to work some ground and pound but Marx has wrist control.

Marx has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marx wants to control from the top but Pimba keeps moving. Marx is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marx accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Javier Pimba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marx shoots in and bounces Pimba off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Marx stands and throws Pimba's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marx working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Pimba really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marx. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Marx lands a few punches from side control. Marx takes a little break here. Pimba wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Marx seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pimba for as long as he can get away with. Pimba is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Marx has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Marx throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The strikes coming from Marx are missing the target in this wave of attacks. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Marx cracks Pimba with a big elbow. Pimba managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Marx.

He turns his back on Pimba, trying to create some distance but Pimba rushes him, striking wildly and Marx goes down! The referee tackles Pimba into the cage to end the fight! Pimba is one violent man!

Broadbent tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Misahawa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Misahawa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Broadbent finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Misahawa's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Broadbent falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Kenichi Misahawa decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Moicano rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Murphy finish him?!
Moicano is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Moicano stalks Murphy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Murphy's face. Murphy staggers backwards, shaken. Moicano is still on wobbly legs! Can Murphy finish him? Murphy drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Moicano's head, knocking him out cold! Murphy is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kiloe preventing the sweep. Vass looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
