Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thurman Murphy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Junior Senior! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Senior enables Murphy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Senior manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Senior pushes Murphy off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Horrible takedown attempt by Senior or perhaps it was just good defense by Murphy, which made it look bad. Senior tries to clinch up but Murphy circles away and keeps his distance. It looked like Murphy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Senior tries to close the distance and clinch but Murphy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Murphy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Senior to the mat! Senior manages to get full guard. Murphy prevents Senior from getting back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Senior trying to control the position.
Senior is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Murphy scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Murphy tries to free his leg and advance position but Senior is retaining full guard. Murphy drops back, looking for a kneebar! Senior looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Senior looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Senior!
Senior stands up and beckons Murphy to his feet. Senior wants to clinch up but Murphy keeps it at a distance. Senior is looking to clinch but Murphy is avoiding it.

Murphy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Senior shoots in for a takedown but Murphy shows good takedown defense. Murphy gets a double leg takedown into Senior's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murphy is breathing heavily. Senior looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Senior is on top in guard.

Senior is trying to control the action in half guard but Murphy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Senior is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Bassfish is defending well but Leaf drives through and ends up in Bassfish 's guard. Leaf not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Leaf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bassfish . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Let's hope that Leaf has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Leaf throws a strike but Bassfish rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bassfish has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Bassfish is working for takedown but Leaf is calmly controlling the position for now. Leaf is looking to take this one to the mat. Bassfish manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A bit of a pause in the action here. Leaf controlling the positon. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. It looks like Leaf might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Bassfish trying to control the position but Leaf manages to sink in the hooks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maxwell Leaf dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Bassfish jabs at Leaf's body. Leaf closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bassfish quickly recovers to half guard. Leaf drops an elbow to the side of Bassfish 's head. Bassfish is trying to maintain the position but Leaf is very close to passing his half guard. Bassfish moves into full guard.
Bassfish can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Leaf controls the pace. Leaf must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bassfish looking to control.

Bassfish did well to prevent Leaf getting side control. Bassfish is trying to stand back up but Leaf is controlling him

He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Leaf tries to pass to full mount but Bassfish defends it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bassfish wants to get back to his feet. Leaf thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bassfish 's head. Leaf is nestled in close to Bassfish , controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Well, if Leaf is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
