Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ace Gunn! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Ryder! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gunn clinches up with Ryder and pushes him back against the cage. Gunn pulls Ryder into guard.
Ryder postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Ryder trying to control but Gunn is working from the bottom. Ryder controlling from the top position. Ryder stopping the sweep attempt from Gunn. Ryder got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gunn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ryder has managed to get both his arms back between Gunn's legs - danger averted. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ryder forces his way into half guard. Ryder throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ryder controlling the action here. Ryder is keen to just control but Gunn is a slippery customer. Gunn kicks Ryder off and gets back to his feet. Ryder clinches with his opponent.
Ryder blocks an elbow strike from Gunn.
Gunn gets underhooks to prevent Ryder's takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gunn lands with a short shot to the head. Ryder has clasped his hands together around Gunn's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Ryder decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gunn to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ryder tries to clinch but Gunn moves away letting Gunn counter with a right hand. It looks like Josh Ryder has been cut. Gunn stuffs the takedown. Gunn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ryder pinned against the cage. Ryder gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gunn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ryder fails with a takedown attempt. Ace Gunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Ryder. Gunn has Ryder up against the cage in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryder gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gunn.
Ryder is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gunn can't fight it off and eventually Ryder manages to take the fight to the floor. Gunn looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Gunn is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Gunn pressing his opponent against the cage. Ryder drags the fight down to the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gunn stays in close to Ryder's body and controls the position. Ryder tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ryder working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gunn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ryder is tightening it up a little... Gunn has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gunn reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gunn taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ryder!

Matt Morgan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Morgan! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hiccup closes this distance looking for a takedown but Morgan circles away. Morgan looks like he wants to counter punch here. Morgan closes the distance and clinches. Morgan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Morgan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Morgan wants to take the fight to the mat but Hiccup manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. A left hand lands to the body for Hiccup.
Hiccup tries to circle away but Morgan has him pinned against the cage. Hiccup pulls guard. Hiccup looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Morgan wants to stand but Hiccup is controlling his posture from full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morgan stands and throws Hiccup's legs to the side, diving into side control. Morgan is looking to take a break and control but Hiccup is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hiccup is looking for a sweep. Hiccup is working hard here to advance position. Hiccup trying to remain calm as Morgan controls from the top position. Morgan cracks Hiccup with an elbow. That is naaassty. Hiccup might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Morgan working the ground and pound. Hiccup is trying to control Morgan's posture but Morgan avoids it. Hiccup is looking to regain half guard here but Morgan keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morgan scores with a couple of short elbows. Morgan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hiccup to his feet. Morgan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hiccup on his heels. He'll look to pass Hiccup's guard now, I'm sure. Morgan gets to his feet. Hiccup looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Hiccup scores with a push kick. Morgan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Morgan clinches up against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hiccup blocks the elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Morgan gets to his feet - Hiccup follows without any prompting. Morgan wants to clinch and Hiccup counters with a stiff right hand. Morgan shoots and misses and Hiccup counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Jon Hiccup has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Morgan. Morgan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Morgan! But no joy. Hiccup fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Hiccup scores with a jab. Morgan acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Hiccup shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Morgan but Morgan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morgan moves into the clinch. Morgan drags the fight down to the ground.

Morgan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hiccup pushes Morgan off looking to stand but Morgan dives back in and keeps control.
Morgan is looking to take a break and control but Hiccup is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. It looks like Morgan is going to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Morgan dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hiccup. Hiccup looks for a takedown but Morgan sprawls well. Hiccup dips to his left and cracks Morgan with an uppercut! Hiccup tries to clinch up but Morgan circles away and keeps his distance. Morgan throws a head kick that misses. Morgan instigates a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morgan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hiccup is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Morgan fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Horrible takedown attempt by Hiccup or perhaps it was just good defense by Morgan, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Hiccup. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hiccup scores with a one two! Morgan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Morgan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hiccup tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Morgan is in Hiccup's guard. Hiccup pushes Morgan off and scrambles back to his feet.
Morgan doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hiccup counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hiccup checks a low kick from Morgan. Morgan falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hiccup cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hiccup fails to land with a series of punches.
Morgan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hiccup napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morgan goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hiccup rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Morgan's guard! Nice work there by Hiccup! Morgan is breathing heavily. Hiccup trying to control the position from guard on top but Morgan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hiccup stands and steps away. Morgan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Morgan has closed the distance and engaged Hiccup in a clinch.

Morgan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hiccup bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Morgan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hiccup swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hiccup tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Morgan throws out a counter right but Hiccup avoids it with no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Morgan pushes Hiccup up against the cage in a clinch. Morgan fails to pull guard.
Hiccup jumps guard.
Morgan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Hiccup knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Morgan on the ground. Morgan trying to control the position from guard on top but Hiccup is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Morgan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Hiccup keeping moving, preventing Morgan from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hiccup looking to control.
Hiccup wants to sweep but no luck. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Hiccup is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Morgan tries to clinch there but Hiccup circles away.
Morgan rushes Hiccup and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A head punch on the inside from Morgan fails to land. Hiccup jumps into guard, dragging Morgan to the mat.
Morgan stands up and waves to Hiccup to follow him. Hiccup gets caught napping as Morgan dives in and scores a takedown. Hiccup manages to retain guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jon Hiccup will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! A nice combination there by Hiccup.
Hiccup shoots in looking for a takedown but Morgan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hiccup's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Morgan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hiccup counters with a nice uppercut. Horrible takedown attempt by Hiccup or perhaps it was just good defense by Morgan, which made it look bad. Morgan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hiccup! Morgan advances to mount. Hiccup is squirming around, avoiding Morgan's attempts to control the action. Morgan unloading with bombs!
That's one minute gone in the round. Morgan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hiccup tries to improve his position but Morgan has taken his back! Morgan has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hiccup tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Morgan pushes Hiccup away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Matt Morgan! Matt Morgan is the new light heavyweight champion!
