The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roughan dives in and scores a takedown into Jones's guard. Roughan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jones dives on top into guard.
Roughan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jones wants to stand but Roughan has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Roughan looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roughan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones controlling from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roughan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gulyas takes one to the side of the head.
It looks like Ahmad Gulyas has been cut. Gunn feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gulyas sprawling to the canvas! Gulyas rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gunn finish him?!
Gulyas is rocked! Gunn darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Gulyas's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Gunn before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Lavicci closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Saabo quickly recovers to half guard. Lavicci perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Lavicci moves into full mount! Saabo won't be happy about that! Lavicci controlling the position easily from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saabo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lavicci. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lavicci wants to take his opponent's back but Saabo doesn't allow it. Lavicci tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lavicci jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Saabo manages to avoid the submission attempt. Lavicci wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Saabo, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saabo is letting Lavicci control him for a moment. Saabo wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Saabo gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lavicci content just to control the position here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lavicci fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Saabo to the ground. Lavicci is now in Saabo's guard. Lavicci pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Saabo is keeping the position for now. Lavicci forces his way into half guard. Lavicci is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Saabo somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Gregor Saabo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Saabo throws a head kick that misses. Lavicci darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lavicci uses his free foot to push down on Saabo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Saabo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lavicci controlling the pace for now. Anthony Lavicci overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lavicci seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saabo for as long as he can get away with. Lavicci is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Saabo is in real trouble.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lavicci really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Saabo. Lavicci patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Lavicci has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Saabo! Can he survive? No! He's out! Lavicci gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bormier closes this distance looking for a takedown but Martinez circles away. Martinez lands an overhand right. A telegraphed right hand from Martinez misses the target. Martinez feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bormiers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! A right-left combo lands from Martinez. Bormier misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bormier takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Bormier darts in looking for a takedown but Martinez gets double underhooks and turns Bormier into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathaniel Bormier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martinez lands a nice elbow. It looks like Nathaniel Bormier has been cut. Martinez misses with a body punch.
Martinez lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bormier backwards. This has been an exciting period of action! Martinez comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Martinez lands an elbow inside that Bormier shrugs off. A right hook to the body lands for Martinez.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Martinez creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Martinez scores with a nice hook to the head. Jeez, Nathaniel Bormier's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Martinez makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Nathaniel Bormier's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zuluzinho tries to move into range but Gray moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. It looks like Giant Zuluzinho has been cut. Gray closes the distance but Zuluzinho moves to the side and Zuluzinho counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Zuluzinho slows the pace down in half guard. Zuluzinho thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gray's head. Zuluzinho not landing any meaningful shots this time. Zuluzinho landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. My spies in High Kicks inform me that Zuluzinho has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Gray is staying active underneath Zuluzinho, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Zuluzinho is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Zuluzinho lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Gray is trying to control but can't.
Gray is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Zuluzinho throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Zuluzinho thows a huge punch but Gray dodges it nicely.

McWrestler darts in looking for a takedown but Athram gets double underhooks and turns McWrestler into the cage. A little feinted left hand from Athram on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. McWrestler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. McWrestler lands a decent elbow from side control. McWrestler grinds an elbow into Athram's temple. McWrestler tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. McWrestler grinds an elbow into Athram's temple. Athram tries to control the position but he's not in luck - McWrestler easily slips into full mount! McWrestler unloading with bombs! McWrestler throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Athram can't escape the position.

Lush misses with a left hand and Switzer counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lush 's knee momentarily. Switzer misses with a double jab.
A little feinted left hand from Lush on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Lush throws a head kick but Switzer moves out of range.
Switzer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Gert Lush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Switzer on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Nice shot by Lush . Switzer lands with a good body shot. Lush lands a high kick!
Lush moves out of range of the strikes. Lush looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. A clash of legs there as Lush blocks the low kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Switzer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lush .

and Switzer counters with a solid body kick. Switzer looks to throw the jab but Lush is out of range. Lush fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

enabling Switzer to counter with a crisp jab. Lush jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lush misses with an uppercut. Switzer saw that one coming. Lush lands a body shot.
Lush misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Switzer scores with a hook to the body. Lush takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Switzer feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Lush sprawling to the canvas! Lush rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Switzer finish him?!
Lush is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lush throws a head kick that misses and Switzer counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Oh Lush is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Damn, Lush is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Finger has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Williams throws a body shot but no joy. Finger looks like he wants to counter punch here. Finger throws an overhand right that lands on Williams's shoulder, as Williams tries to avoid the shot.
