Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryen Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rob Garrison! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garrison fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lee lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Garrison dives in for a single leg takedown but Lee sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Lee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Lee shoots in and drives through. Garrison sprawls well. Lee shoots in and drives through. Garrison sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryen Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garrison shoots in but no luck this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garrison wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Garrison throwing strikes but missing. Garrison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lee holds on and takes a little breather. Garrison trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Garrison lands a couple of elbows. Lee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Garrison on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Garrison displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lee. Garrison feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Garrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Garrison has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Garrison advances to full mount. Garrison is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lee can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Rob Garrison dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Nice sprawl there from Garrison as Lee shoots in. A looping hook to the body misses from Garrison. Lee does a little dance to reset his feet. Lee wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Lee tries for a takedown but Garrison sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Garrison has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Garrison closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. Garrison pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Garrison shoots in and bounces Lee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Garrison passes into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Garrison connects with a nice short shot to Lee's temple. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garrison is trying to work for a kimura but Lee is defending well.

Garrison is trying to control the action in half guard but Lee is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Garrison looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lee with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Lee is trying to maintain the position but Garrison is very close to passing his half guard. Rob Garrison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round! Lee throws a series of punches but Garrison avoids them all with ease. Lee fails with a takedown attempt. Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Garrison pinned against the cage. Garrison gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Garrison with the counter takedown but Lee avoids it easily. Lee misses with a takedown attempt and Garrison counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Garrison. Garrison has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A frustrated look appears on Lee's face as he tries to break the clinch. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Garrison's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Lee is trying to pull guard but Garrison has him pressed against the cage. Lee tries to stall but Garrison uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Garrison leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Garrison drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lee defends it well. Lee changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Garrison tries to avoid it but Lee manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Garrison to the ground. Garrison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Garrison shoots in but no luck this time. Garrison fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

You can see the frustration on Lee's face as Garrison controls the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Garrison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working.

It connects and Toguchi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Gonzales dives in and grabs Toguchi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Toguchi pushes down on Gonzales's head and hops out. Gonzales swats away the attempt to clinch by Toguchi. Toguchi stuffs the takedown. Gonzales shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gonzales can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gonzales accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gonzales keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Toguchi's head.
