Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dan Cox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kirk Patrick! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cox throws a lazy uppercut
and Patrick counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Patrick lands strikes from half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Patrick lands a nice short elbow. Cox is refusing to be controlled, as Patrick sits in half guard. Patrick has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Patrick passes into side control, despite Cox's attempt to control the position.
Patrick tries for a kimura but Cox is defending well. Patrick tries to advance to mount but can't. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Patrick lands a nice forearm strike. Patrick tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patrick working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
It looks like Dan Cox has been cut. Patrick in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Cox looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Patrick turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mike shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vurris is trying to defend but Mike finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mike not landing any meaningful shots this time. Mike really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vurris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Vurris is looking to control Mike's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vurris avoid being mounted? Mike slips a nice elbow through Vurris's hands, connecting with Vurris's forehead. Vurris wants to get back to full guard. Vurris looking for submissions off his back. Mike prevents Vurris from improving his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mike content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vurris wants to improve his position but Mike is controlling well.
Mike lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Vurris keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Vurris is looking for a sweep. Mike is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Vurris gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mike is posturing up here but Vurris has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Mike tries to roll out but it's too tight and Mike has to tap! Slick submission there by Vurris!
