Camara half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Camara really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Thompson feints a jab promting Camara to slip. Thompson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Camara slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Camara shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompson sprawls well. He's pushed Camara's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thompson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Camara has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Camara and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Camara closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Thompson's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Camara thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Camara is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Thompson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Thompson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Camara is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Camara looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Camara is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Thompson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Thompson shrugs it off.
Camara will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Camara mounts Thompson! Really nice guard pass there!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thompson is squirming around, avoiding Camara's attempts to control the action.

Camara jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Thompson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Thompson and Camara has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vargas Thompson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Thompson moves into the clinch.

Thompson tightens his grip and picks Camara up, before dumping him to the ground. Camara manages to land in guard.
Thompson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Camara has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Thompson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Camara has tightened it up now! Thompson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

A less than humble Mbaku Camara misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
