The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zaitsev looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Manners is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Zaitsev rolls with it to try and escape but Manners cranks on the arm and Zaitsev is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Choto Kanabe! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Verdins displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Kanabe darts in and clinches Verdins up against the cage. Kanabe will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Verdins up against the cage. Verdins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Verdins can't find room to land a body shot as Kanabe controls the action.

Kanabe has Verdins pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Verdins manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Verdins letting Kanabe take a breather here. Verdins jumps guard but Kanabe stands there with Verdins around his waist. Verdins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kanabe has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Verdins after a bit of a struggle. Kanabe keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Verdins's efforts to push away. Kanabe pushes Verdins back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Kanabe pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Verdins tumbling to the mat - Kanabe dives into Verdins's guard. Kanabe stopping the sweep attempt from Verdins.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kanabe is stalling in the full guard. Kanabe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Verdins looking to control.
Kanabe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kanabe pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Verdins tumbling to the mat - Kanabe dives into Verdins's guard. Kanabe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Verdins is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kanabe throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Verdins's body to avoid the submission. Verdins has instead reached around Kanabe's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Verdins arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

McPunchist feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Genovs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! McPunchist looks to land a right hand but Genov moved out of range. McPunchist throws an overhand right that lands on Genov's shoulder, as Genov tries to avoid the shot. It seemed like Genov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. McPunchist works Genov's body with a nice hook. Genov looks winded! McPunchist closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. McPunchist presses Genov against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. McPunchist throws a punch but it's blocked by Genov. McPunchist fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Genov is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - McPunchist screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Benn Jr has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Brent blocks the body kick.

It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant. In defeat, Nigel Benn Jr stepped up to the mic, saying 'ill be back'.
