The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holmes misses the jab. John takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Holmes jabs John to the body, keeping him at a distance. John takes a shot to the body in his stride.
John throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. John lands a slapping body shot.
Holmes lands a lovely overhand right. Holmes misses with a straight left. Holmes sets himself, and John steps forward looking for the clinch! Holmes avoids it this time. Holmes swings for the body but John moves out of range.
Holmes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Holmes lands with an uppercut that bounces John off the ropes and back into range. John throws a hook to the side of Holmes's head but Holmes sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A jab from Holmes does it's job there. John throws a hook but Holmes blocks it. An attempted straight right counter from Holmes misses the target. Holmes is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. I was talking to Kin's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Kin is trying to break the clinch but Schultz is controlling him. A short left from Schultz. Kin is looking to break free of the clinch but Schultz has double underhooks. Schultz gets through Kin's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Schultz lands a right hand. Schultz drops Kin on his ass with a big knee up the middle! Kin bounces straight back to his feet before the referee can even start a count. We'll have to wait a moment to see if that actually hurt him or not, as he takes the standing 8 count. Kin is rocked! Kin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Schultz. Oh Kin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Schultz cracks Kin with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the ropes! Can Kin get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. Kin looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue! Schultz throws a jab when Kin was well out of range. Kin throws a big shot that misses. Schultz throws an overhand right that lands on Kin's shoulder, as Kin tries to avoid the shot. Schultz rushes Kin and presses him up against the ropes. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Dutch Schultz dominated that round. The cut man is working on Berto Kin's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Schultz scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Kin to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Schultz away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Kin got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?! A big left from Kin misses. Kin walks straight into a perfectly timed right hook, crumpling him to the floor! Kin is in all kinds of trouble here - can he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7,8,9....10 - he's out and it's by a long way too - he didn't ever look like beating that count!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Noel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Noel takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Leekpai jabs at Noel's body. Good exchange - Leekpai coming out on top. Leekpai scores with a nice strike. Leekpai throws a looping overhand right but Noel ducks down to avoid it. A telegraphed right hand from Noel misses the target. Leekpai fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Leekpai lands with a hook. Noel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lowell and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Yalixqua misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lowell.
