6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Gailfus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michel Thurtz! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thurtz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Gailfus being controlled for a moment. Gailfus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Thurtz decides to stand back up. Thurtz steps back and let's Gailfus get back to his feet. Gailfus misses with a takedown attempt and Thurtz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Ryan Gailfus has been cut. Thurtz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gailfus stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Thurtz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gailfus was well out of range. Poor timing from Thurtz. Gailfus fails with the takedown and Thurtz counters with a right hand that sends Gailfus tumbling to the canvas! Can Thurtz finish him? He dives into Gailfus's guard looking to do just that!
Gailfus is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Thurtz stands up from guard. Let's bang! Oh Gailfus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gailfus has his takedown stuffed and Thurtz counters by clinching up. Gailfus seems to have got his legs back now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Gailfus. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thurtz throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Gailfus is breathing heavily. Thurtz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gailfus with a poor takedown and Thurtz scores with a counter punch that sends Gailfus to the canvas! Thurtz smells blood - he's punishing Gailfus with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Gailfus has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! de Guia moves into the clinch. Pagodinho is trying to break free. Pagodinho tries to break free but de Guia pushes him back against the cage. de Guia gets through Pagodinho's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. de Guia lands a knee to the body.
de Guia lands a nice elbow. Pagodinho looks gassed! de Guia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
de Guia instigates a clinch. de Guia lands a right hand. Pagodinho goes for a takedown attempt but de Guia pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
de Guia tries to clinch there but Pagodinho circles away.
de Guia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The fight moves into the clinch position. de Guia breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. de Guia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Whack! de Guia lands a heavy head kick that drops Pagodinho. The ref tackles de Guia to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Pagodinho was done.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn looks for the body kick but Velasquez saw that one coming. Penn throws a low kick, looking for Velasquez's leg but Velasquez calmly moves out of range. Velasquez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn parries the strikes from Velasquez easily there. Velasquez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Penn to escape.

Penn wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Velasquez staying calm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Velasquez has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ground and pound from Velasquez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Velasquez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Penn is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A clash of legs there as Velasquez blocks the low kick. Penn tries to land a leg kick but Velasquez saw it coming and moves away.
Velasquez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Penn. Penn throws a low kick, looking for Velasquez's leg but Velasquez calmly moves out of range. Nice straight punches there by Velasquez. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Velasquez. Velasquez misses with a kick to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Velasquez fails to land with a series of punches.
Velasquez throws a sloppy head kick and Penn moves out of range easily. Velasquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Velasquez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Penn blocks a jab. Velasquez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Velasquez showed some decent athleticism there. Penn is in trouble now - Velasquez has advanced to mount! Velasquez raining down shots from the mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Velasquez controlling the position easily from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez unloads with some shots from mount but Penn bucks and avoids them well.
Penn is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Velasquez thowing shots but they're missing. Velasquez throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Penn is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Velasquez controlling from the full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Velasquez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Penn for as long as he can get away with. Velasquez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Velasquez throws a sloppy strike and Penn uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Penn has ended up in Velasquez's guard.
Penn wants to stand but Velasquez is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cain Velasquez dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Velasquez throws a leg kick but Penn sees it coming and moves out of range. Velasquez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Velasquez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Velasquez showed some decent athleticism there. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Velasquez not doing much here.
Penn is trying to stand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Velasquez here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Velasquez frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Velasquez controlling from the full mount. Velasquez is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Penn is rocked! Penn takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Velasquez's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Wolfen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ocha uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wolfen.
Ocha closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ocha lands in his opponent's guard. Ocha looking to pass the guard. Ocha might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wolfen pulls Ocha in close to prevent any damage. Ocha is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wolfen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ocha is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ocha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wolfen is keeping the position for now. Ocha drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ocha jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ocha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wolfen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ocha is working hard here to advance position.

But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ocha, into his guard. Wolfen wants to stand but Ocha has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Wolfen won't allow Ocha to sweep him here. Ocha had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wolfen defends it easily. Ocha is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wolfen is aware though and is defending well. Ocha is breathing heavily. Ocha is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Wolfen stays in close to Ocha's body and controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wolfen throws out a loose jab but Ocha uses good head movement to avoid it. Ocha keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Ocha shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wolfen sprawls well. Wolfen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ocha gets slowly back to his feet. Wolfen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wolfen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ocha. Wolfen lands with a straight right. Ocha didn't see that one coming. Wolfen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Wolfen cracks Ocha with an open hand slap. Wolfen throws a one two combo.

Ocha with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wolfen to score with a decent uppercut. Oh Ocha is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! BOOM! Wolfen lands a beautiful left hook that drops Ocha. Ocha tries to recover but Wolfen is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Ocha lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Didymus wants to pass to mount but Prokopos is defending the position. Prokopos is staying active underneath Didymus, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Prokopos is trying to control but can't.

Prokopos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Didymus utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Didymus keeping moving, preventing Prokopos from controlling successfully. Didymus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Prokopos is aware though and is defending well. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Prokopos looking to pass the guard.

Prokopos pushing down on Didymus's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Prokopos is trying to control. Didymus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Didymus wants to get back to full guard. Prokopos perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Prokopos wants to free his trapped foot but Didymus is holding on for dear life with his legs. Didymus is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Prokopos's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Prokopos's back! Denny Prokopos has got the better of the ground game so far. Didymus has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Prokopos! Can he survive? No! He's out! Didymus gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
