I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alex Tucker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

We've been hearing good reports from Neer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Price!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Broomsdale decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Still in half guard, Broomsdale seems content to control.
Broomsdale passes to side control.

Broomsdale stands up.
Price leaves Broomsdale with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Price lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Sloppy strikes from Price. Those never looked like landing.
Price throws a good cross that connects.
Price closes the distance and lands a one-two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Price gets caught flat footed, as Broomsdale shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Broomsdale is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Broomsdale won't allow Price to get back to his feet.

Broomsdale drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Broomsdale jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Broomsdale is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Price is looking to stand up but Broomsdale isn't so interested in that idea.

Despite the aggression on Price's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Price scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Broomsdale manages to mount him!

Broomsdale swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

It looks like Vern Vurris has been cut.

Vurris throwing strikes from guard but Kirin blocks nicely.

Kirin was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Vurris darts in looking for a takedown but Kirin gets double underhooks and turns Vurris into the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oooooh!!! Kirin has knocked Vurris down with a huge combo! Kirin steps away and waves a wobbly Vurris back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Vurris throws a chopping leg kick but Kirin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Vurris slips a straight right by Kirin.
And Vurris tries to counter it with a takedown but Kirin pushes his down on his head and steps out.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Kirin lands a big uppercut and Vurris crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Vurris looks OK. Kirin waves Vurris back to his feet!

Vurris looks winded!

Kirin lands a big right hand that sends Vurris crashing to the mat! Kirin stays standing though and waves Vurris back to his feet!
Vurris is still on wobbly legs! Can Kirin finish him?
Kirin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vurris.
Vurris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vurris seems to have recovered his senses.
and Kirin counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Vurris! He's just covering up as Kirin starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kokkoro Kirin!
