Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Alvarez (ranked 695 p4p, 1885 weight class) and Toby MacAlister (ranked 91 p4p, 221 weight class). Alvarez comes to the cage accompanied by Juan Luis Guerra - Soldado. MacAlister has chosen This Was My Life as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Alvarez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
MacAlister misses with an uppercut

and Alvarez counters with a single leg into guard. MacAlister didn't expect that.
Alvarez chips away with some ground and pound.
Alvarez postures up in MacAlister's guard and throws a big left but MacAlister blocks it.
Alvarez is fighting to break MacAlister's control of his arms but MacAlister is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now MacAlister is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvarez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but MacAlister shows good takedown defense.
MacAlister throws out a counter right but Alvarez avoids it with no problem.

Alvarez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Alvarez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
MacAlister looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Alvarez moves forwards but MacAlister connects with a nice, crisp jab.
MacAlister connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alvarez's hands.
MacAlister feints with a jab and clips Alvarez right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Alvarez is sent crashing into the canvas and MacAlister leaps in for the kill! Alvarez tries to get to his feet but MacAlister is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Alvarez is in need of a savior and steps in!
