With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hallzy Dogg! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dogg.
Dogg throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lake counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dogg thinking. Lake lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Lake connects with a looping right hand.
Lake throws a leg kick which misses Dogg's front leg but catches the back leg as Dogg tries to avoid it. Lake swinging wildly here.
Buddy Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lake ducks under a wild hook from Dogg. Dogg rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Lake counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A good leg kick by Lake. Dogg looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dogg throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lake counters with a straight punch to the midsection. We've been told by Lake's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Dogg takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Dogg throws a head kick but Lake moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lake scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Lake moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Lake looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Dogg moves forwards but Lake connects with a nice, crisp jab. Lake lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Dogg is rocked! Lake keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dogg is still on wobbly legs! Can Lake finish him? Dogg takes a body punch but keeps moving. Dogg fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lake, pushing him back against the cage. Dogg has picked Lake up - he's going for a ride! Dogg dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Dogg seems to have recovered his senses. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dogg winds up and cracks Lake with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Dogg prevents Lake from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dogg is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lake is just riding it out for now. Dogg eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dogg not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Dogg winds up and cracks Lake with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Lake trying to hold on to Dogg's head to control him but Dogg postures up.
Lake wants to improve his position but Dogg is controlling well.
My spies in Cozad The Island inform me that Dogg has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Dogg seems to be looking for submissions.

Lake's jab looks to have found its range, popping Dogg under the eye. Dogg takes a swing at Lake's ribcage but misses. Lake lands a really nice looking cross but Dogg seems unphased.

Dogg is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lake pulls him back up using the underhooks. Dogg looks winded! Lake is trying to break free. Lake is trying to break the clinch but Dogg has him pressed against the cage. Dogg has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lake is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Buddy Lake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hallzy Dogg. Dogg fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lake lands with a kick to the temple. Dogg shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Dogg takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Dogg is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lake. Lake fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lake lands a hook that stumbles Dogg back into the cage. Lake follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Dogg to the canvas! Lake pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Dogg has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Smith throws a combination. Get Rotten tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Jab, jab by Smith - just one landing. Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Get Rotten is rocked! Crack! Smith connects with the perfect overhand right and Get Rotten falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Smith!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Stephens doesn't seem bothered though. Stephens looks for the body kick but Silva saw that one coming. A little jabbing left from Silva on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stephens. Stephens throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily. Stephens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva scores with a takedown into Stephens's guard. Stephens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Stephens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stephens works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Stephens gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Stephens wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position. We've been hearing good reports from Stephens's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real. Balls scores with a jab to the jaw. Jab, cross, leg kick. Balls tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Aisland paws at him with a jab and circles away. Balls throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Balls doesn't manage to clinch there - Aisland circles away.
It looked like Aisland was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Balls. Balls displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Masters connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kuragi's hands. Nice takedown defense from Masters. No joy for Kuragi on that attempt. Masters is looking to counter with a body kick. Kuragi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Masters tries to avoid it but Kuragi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Masters to the ground. Masters escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Masters swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Masters stuffs the takedown attempt from Kuragi. Kuragi gets slowly back to his feet. Morton Masters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sensai Kuragi. Masters misses with an attempted mid kick.

It looked like Masters wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Masters rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

Masters struggling a bit here. Masters might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Masters tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kuragi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Kuragi in side control, working for a kimura. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redd looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. French tries to get to full guard but Redd has control of the leg. Redd throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. French connects with the punch. French swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Redd. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Redd has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Redd tries to advance to mount but French denies him. Sloppy strikes there by Redd. Redd trying to control the action but French is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Redd in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... French is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
