Sigursson throws a lazy right hand but Boyce sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Redd leaves Fowel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Fowel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Redd knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Redd is looking for a sweep. Fowel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fowel is trying to control. Redd wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Fowel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Redd defends it well.

Fowel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Fowel is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Fowel is looking to stall here but Redd recovers full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Redd lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Redd looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Redd slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fowel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Redd to the mat! Redd manages to get full guard.
Redd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fowel wants to control from the top but Redd keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Redd has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fowel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Redd escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fowel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fowel content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Redd has locked up a guillotine! Redd's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Fowel is holding on here and Redd must be using up a lot of energy. Fowel has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Redd gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
