Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Guy Bernier (ranked 1807 p4p, 1080 weight class) and Jerry Short (ranked 103 p4p, 53 weight class). Bernier's entrance music is Stranglehold/ Ted Nugent. A fine choice. Short has chosen Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger as his entrance music. Jerry Short told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Guy Bernier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Short! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Short needs to keep his hands up - Bernier had a free shot at his head there. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bernier, as that shot connected.
Donk. Bernier catches Short right on the button with a cross. Bernier lands a jab to the nose. Bernier thuds a left hand into Short's body. Bernier scores with a jab to the body. Short's coach down at Gold Samurai's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Short's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Bernier feints and then cracks Short's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Short down. Short with a lazy takedown attempt and Bernier holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Short is looking for a takedown. Bernier is pressed up against the cage. Short has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bernier down to the mat. Bernier avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Guy Bernier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Short. Bernier clobbers Short with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bernier lands with a nice body punch. Bernier slaps away a takedown attempt from Short, before circling back to the center of the mat. Bernier throws a nice inside leg kick. Short doesn't succeed with the takedown and Bernier counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Short is looking for a takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Short blocks the elbow strike.
Bernier tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Short tries to score a body lock takedown but Bernier shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Short goes for a takedown attempt but Bernier pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Short takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Bernier lands with an uppercut that bounces Short off the cage and back into range. Bernier throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Short. Short moves forwards but Bernier connects with a nice, crisp jab. Bernier scoring well with a low kick there.
Short shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bernier pinned against the cage. Bernier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A punch combination from Bernier misses. Short manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bernier on his heels. He'll look to pass Bernier's guard now, I'm sure. This has been an exciting period of action! Short loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Short wants to control from the top but Bernier keeps moving. Short missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Bernier controlling the position. Bernier has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Bernier wants to sweep but no luck. Short postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bernier is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Short, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bernier stays in close to Short's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Short will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Bernier won't allow Short to sweep him here. Short throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bernier slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Short is looking for a triangle but Bernier pushes his legs off easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bernier passes easily into side control. Nice work. Bernier trying to control the action but Short is working from the bottom. Bernier wants to control for a moment but Short uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Guy Bernier dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Short shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Bernier attempts a counter takedown but Short avoids it well and moves away. Bernier looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Bernier misses with a head kick.
Short looks for a takedown but Bernier sprawls well. Bernier is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Short can do to turn this around? Bernier scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. A nice inside leg kick there by Bernier. That's going to slow Short down. Bernier scores with a crisp jab that stopped Short in his tracks. Bernier cracks Short with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Short moves out of range of the strikes. Bernier throws a chopping leg kick but Short manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Bernier lands a leg kick that knocks Short off balance momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A jab from Bernier finds it's way through Short's defenses. Bernier thows a leg kick but Short checks it and Short counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Short wants to free his trapped foot but Bernier is holding on for dear life with his legs. Short passes to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Bernier tries to reverse the position but Short maintains control. Short is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bernier is surviving well by controlling Short's body position as best he can. Bernier tries to reverse the position but Short maintains control. Bernier tries to hold on but Short pushes him away. Jerry Short has got the better of the ground game so far. Short dominating with strikes here. Bernier tries to hold on but Short postures up. Short thowing shots but they're missing.

Bernier slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Bernier is looking for a sweep. Short is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bernier tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Short has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Bernier is trying to escape the mount.
Short is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bernier can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Short is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bernier has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bernier! Short is looking to cinch up a triangle. Bernier throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Short's body to avoid the submission. Short has instead reached around Bernier's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Short arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joaquim Caetano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor McCallen! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caetano avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Caetano wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Caetano cracks McCallen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Caetano throws a big shot that misses. McCallen lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. McCallen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. McCallen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little feinted left hand from Caetano on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Caetano shoots in looking for a takedown but McCallen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Caetano's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Caetano gets cracked there but stands up to it.
McCallen dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nice cross by McCallen. It looks like Joaquim Caetano has been cut. Caetano shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Caetano was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Caetano decides to take the fight back to the feet. Caetano throws a poor cross that misses
and McCallen counters with a left to the body. Caetano ducks right into an uppercut from McCallen. McCallen dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Caetano throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McCallen's waist but McCallen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Caetano off to one side. Caetano thows a left - swing and a miss! McCallen fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Caetano on the side of the head. Caetano takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

McCallen slips under a jab from Caetano. A countering left hand to the body from McCallen misses. Caetano shoots and misses and McCallen counters with a crisp right hand that drops Caetano! McCallen lets Caetano back up to his feet, looking for a finish! Caetano is rocked! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joaquim Caetano. That's going to take a lot out of him. Caetano ducks into an uppercut from McCallen and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

You can see the frustration on Williams's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Williams wants to clinch up but Masters keeps it at a distance. Williams is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Masters. Enzo Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Williams misses with an uppercut. Williams is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Masters swinging wildly here.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Masters drops back, looking for a kneebar! Williams looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Williams looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Williams! Masters tries to bench press Williams off him but Williams keeps the position. Enzo Williams is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Masters tries to hold on but Williams pushes him away. Williams sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Masters manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Masters wants to control but Williams is keeping busy and won't allow it. Masters regains full guard. Nicely done. Millard Masters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Masters has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Williams is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Masters. Masters can't do much from the bottom here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Masters looking for a sweep but Williams has passed into full mount! Oh no!
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Enzo Williams. I've got Williams winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sims got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tarver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sims has managed to get both his arms back between Tarver's legs - danger averted. Tarver is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Tarver makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tarver. Sims wants to get up but he can't break Tarver's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Sims decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tarver, up you get! Tarver closes the distance and clinches. Tarver tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sims smiles and moves away.
Tarver looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Tarver has closed the distance and engaged Sims in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tarver tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sims just stands there and leans against the cage. Tarver pulls Sims into guard.
Tarver is looking for a triangle here but Sims uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Tarver is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Sims working away. Sims decides to take the fight back to the feet. Sims throws a leg kick that misses. Tarver ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Sims scores with a jab. Tarver acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Tarver gets a clinch. Tarver gets control of Sims's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tarver will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Sims is looking to stand up but Tarver won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sims decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Tarver doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Sims scores with a jab to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tarver pushes Sims up against the cage in a clinch. Tarver fails to pull guard.

Tarver is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Tarver looking for a guillotine here but Sims defends easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Antonio Tarver will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Veainu misses with a jab, cross combination.
