Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Barbosa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Cipriani! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barbosa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Cipriani is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Barbosa presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Barbosa turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Barbosa manages to end up in side control. Cipriani manages to get back to half guard. Barbosa definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cipriani flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cipriani controlling the position well. Cipriani makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cipriani. Cipriani has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barbosa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Barbosa won't allow Cipriani to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbosa throws a big right hand that misses. Cipriani wants to get back to his feet but Barbosa is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Cipriani utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barbosa wanted to stand there but Cipriani had control of the position. Barbosa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cipriani is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cipriani has escaped and now he's on top! Cipriani stays in close to Barbosa's body and controls the position. Barbosa throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Cipriani shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Barbosa sprawls well. Barbosa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cipriani gets slowly back to his feet. Barbosa attempts a counter takedown but Cipriani avoids it well and moves away. Fury feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits El Shaarawys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! It looks like Ahmed El Shaarawy has been cut. Fury throws a monster overhand right that drops El Shaarawy! Fury follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Yike Ii darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Yike Ii cracks Agathangelou with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Yike Ii has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Agathangelou to stand back up! Agathangelou is rocked! Agathangelou throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Agathangelou with a nice calf kick. Agathangelou throws a lazy head kick and Yike Ii counters with a huge left! Agathangelou is in big trouble! He's backing up but Yike Ii isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Agathangelou from any more damage. A dominating finish by Yike Ii!

Izback has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Plan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Plan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Izback lands an uppercut. Plan is trying to break the clinch but Izback has him pressed against the cage. Izback lands a nice elbow. Izback displaying some good clinch control by pressing Plan up against the cage. Izback lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Izback lands a shoulder strike. Backy Izback seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Plan breaks the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Plan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Plan is rocked! Plan fails with a takedown attempt. It seemed like Izback was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Oh Plan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Izback darts in looking for a takedown but Plan gets double underhooks and turns Izback into the cage. Plan seems to have got his legs back now. Soul Plan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Backy Izback. Izback rushes Plan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Plan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've been hearing reports that Diaz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Diaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Maze. Maze gets slowly back to his feet. Diaz changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Diaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Maze is defending against the submission attempts here by Diaz.
Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Maze is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shepard bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Murdok works over Shepard's head and body with a nice combination. A combination from Murdok does no damage. Shepard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shepard misses the shot to the body. Shepard looks to land a left hand but Murdok moved out of range nicely. Murdok throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matt Murdok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murdok drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. It looks like Matt Murdok has been cut. Murdok misses with a series of wild punches.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

He thinks about going to the ground but Murdok looks back up at him and smiles so Shepard waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Shepard lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Murdok up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Shepard from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Murdok's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Plex tries to clinch up and Harlan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. It looks like Supa Plex has been cut. Harlan throws a looping overhand right but Plex ducks down to avoid it. Plex tries to clinch up but Harlan circles away and keeps his distance. Plex wants to clinch but Harlan slips to the side and Harlan counters with a straight right hand. A shot to the liver by Harlan. Beautiful body shot. Josiah Harlan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world.
