This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 3 losses; Roger Daly! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 1 losses; Tyron Scott! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Scott stuffs the takedown attempt from Daly. Daly gets slowly back to his feet. Daly has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Daly leaves Scott with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Scott's coach down at Count Dante's Deadliest Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Scott's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.#TD2# Scott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Daly (0) vs (4) Scott Scott staying calm. Daly tries to get back to half guard but can't. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Daly keeps working. Daly is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Scott's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Scott's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Daly (4) vs (4) Scott Scott trying to control the hands but Daly breaks the grip. I really don't envy Scott right now.

Daly has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Scott's body.
Daly seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Scott for as long as he can get away with. Scott tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! #T4# Daly trying to control but Scott is having none of it. Scott tries to hold on but Daly postures up. Daly doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Daly manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Daly stopping the sweep attempt from Scott. Daly wants to pass the guard but Scott is keeping the position. Scott wants to sweep but no luck. Scott controls Daly momentarily but Daly frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daly controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself. Scott not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Daly can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Scott controls the pace.#T9# Scott is fighting to break Daly's control of his arms but Daly is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. He's being very persistent here but Scott manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Scott looking to sit in guard and control but Daly gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Daly working away. Scott manages to get back to half guard. Scott is staying active underneath Daly, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Scott tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Daly has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Score +3 for passing guard: Daly (16) vs (10) Scott Scott wants to control but Daly is having none of it.#T13# Scott is squirming around, avoiding Daly's attempts to control the action. Scott tries to hold on but Daly postures up. Scott bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Daly (16) vs (12) Scott Scott slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Scott wants to control from the top but Daly keeps moving. #T14# Daly can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Scott controls the pace. Let's hope that Scott has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Daly is pulling down on Scott's head to control his posture. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Scott wants to control from the top but Daly keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! Daly takes the fight on points by 16 to 12. Roger Daly is the new super heavyweight champion! A relieved looking Roger Daly thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Tyron Scott spoke after the fight, saying 'Pathetic win. You trash and everyone khow it!'. |
