Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Shields! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Garces! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shields changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Garces looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Garces perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Shields is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Garces scores with a couple of nice shots. Garces wants to stand up but Shields has a hold of him and won't allow it. Garces is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shields wants to control but Garces passes into side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Check out the look on Garces's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields trying his best to control but Garces has mounted him. Shields is looking to improve his position but Garces isn't that keen on the idea. Shields tries to hold on but Garces pushes him away. Garces content just to control the position here. Garces is standing up, even though he is in mount. Shields works Garces's body with a nice hook. Garces has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Garces shoots in and drives through. Shields sprawls well. Shields looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Shields tries to keep at a distance but Garces has taken the fight into the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Garces.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Garces. Shields is trying to get back to half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shields is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garces wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shields keeps working. Shields can't do much from the bottom here. Garces thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shields wants to control but Garces postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Shields is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Garces tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Garces has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shields wants to control but Garces postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Horrible takedown attempt by Garces or perhaps it was just good defense by Shields, which made it look bad. A quick step to the side and Shields tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Garces dominated that round. That's time! Shields's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Shields throws a body punch but Garces moves out of range. Shields fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Garces on the side of the head. Garces takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Garces closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Garces wants to advance to full mount but Shields doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Shields can't keep his opponent in guard - Garces advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Garces sitting and controlling from the half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garces trying to control from half guard but Shields is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garces wants to pass to mount but Shields is defending the position. Shields wants to control but Garces is keeping busy and won't allow it. Garces is looking to take a break and control but Shields is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shields trying to control from the bottom.
Garces missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Garces tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shields knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Shields controlling the position well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shields wants to control the action here but instead Garces manages to pass to full mount! Garces can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shields is looking to escape. Garces working for a submission but Shields is keeping him at bay. Shields tries to control the position but Garces now has his back.
Even with his hooks in, Garces manages to miss with strikes from the back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garces really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Shields. Garces looking for the choke but no joy. Garces is punishing Shields with some ground and pound. Garces avoiding Shields 's attempts to control his hands. Garces is persistently looking for the submission but Shields is defending it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Garces is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shields defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Garces has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Shields tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Garces stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Garces closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shields did well to prevent Garces getting side control. Garces is breathing heavily. Shields is looking for a sweep. Garces is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Garces raining down hammerfists from mount. Miguel Garces is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Shields throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Caol Hioki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kaka Rot! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rot fails to land the takedown. Rot looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hioki lands an overhand right. Rot looks for a takedown but Hioki sprawls well. Caol Hioki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaka Rot. Rot wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rot tries to clinch up and Hioki counters with a straight right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hioki looks to throw the jab but Rot is out of range. Caol Hioki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rot tries a head kick but it misses.
Rot on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Rot darts in trying to clinch and Hioki counters with a nice uppercut. Rot keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hioki. Hioki uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rot has time to react. We've been told by Hioki's head coaches at Brotherhood MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Hioki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rot. Rot misses with a body kick. Hioki tries to counter by clinching up but Rot breaks away and moves out of range. Rot tries to score with a low kick but Hioki moves his leg out of the way.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hioki dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Rot has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Rot has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hioki finds it's way round the side to connect with Rot's head. A jab from Hioki misses. Rot fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hioki throws the left hand but Rot avoids the punch easily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rot ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A little jabbing left from Rot on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Rot ducks under a wild hook from Hioki. Rot gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Rot with a poor takedown and Hioki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Hioki pushes Rot up against the cage in a clinch. Hioki throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Rots head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rot is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hioki is keeping busy. A short uppercut from Hioki. Hioki lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hioki gets through Rot's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Hioki lands with a short head shot on the inside. Hioki scores with a shoulder strike. A nice right hand lands inside from Hioki. Hioki stalling the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hioki working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Rot letting Hioki take a breather here. A short body shot lands from Hioki as the two fighters clinch.
Rot escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hioki is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. A big right from Hioki misses. Rot raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Rot changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hioki tries to avoid it but Rot manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hioki to the ground. Hioki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hioki is looking to counter punch. The fighters circling - Hioki throws out the jab but it was never going to land. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rot. Rot shoots in but no luck this time. Kaka Rot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rot tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. That's going to take a lot out of Kaka Rot. Hioki lands a right hook to the body.

Rot tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No joy there for Hioki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rot is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hioki sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Rot keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Rot lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. A jab lands there for Hioki. Rot takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Hioki moves into the clinch. Hioki gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rot.

Rot is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hioki is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Rot. Hioki prevents a takedown attempt there.
Caol Hioki is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rot tries to pull guard but Hioki won't allow it.
Rot pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rot takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Rot doesn't manage to clinch there - Hioki circles away.

And that's the end of the fight! Caol Hioki showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hioki has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cromwell cracks Fowler with a good jab. Fowler wants to clinch but Cromwell slips to the side and Cromwell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cromwell connects with a nice looking jab.

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Walken! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lightning moves into range and clinches up with Walken. Walken prevents a body shot from Lightning. Lightning avoiding damage.
Lightning lands a hook to the side of the head. Walken breaks from the clinch.
Lightning darts in and clinches Walken up against the cage. Lightning definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Walken being controlled against the cage. Walken breaks from the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walken walks into a left hand. Lightning feints a jab promting Walken to slip. Lightning then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Walken slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A jab from Walken misses. Lightning gets a clinch. Walken struggles to land a body shot inside as Lightning controls his hands.

The fighters circle momentarily. Lightning darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Walken throws a big shot that misses. Walken on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Walken waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lightning. Walken takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Lightning lands a head shot. Walken slips under a jab from Lightning. Lightning throws a series of strikes that have Walken backpedaling.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A cross from Lightning lands. Walken tests Lightning's chin there with a solid looking shot. Lightning scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Walken is rocked! Walken throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lightning moves into the clinch.

Walken seems to have recovered his senses. A punch combination from Lightning misses. Lightning closes the distance and clinches. Walken blocking some punches.
Lightning lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Walken manages to break the clinch.
Walken throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lightning was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Walken takes one to the side of the head.
Lightning smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Lightning misses with a body shot.
Lightning throws a big shot that misses. Nice defenses there by Lightning. Lightning takes the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walken breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Walken throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lightning lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lightning thuds a left hand into Walken's body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lightning lands with an overhand left. Lightning ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Walken moves away. Lightning has taken the fight to the clinch.
Walken escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lightning jabs Walken right on the nose. Walken blinks but takes it well. Lightning changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Walken looks winded! Walken ducks right into an uppercut from Lightning. Lightning ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Lightning lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lightning tests Walken's chin there with a solid looking shot. Lightning is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Lightning stuns Walken with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Sindicious Lightning dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Lightning fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Walken manages to avoid it. Lightning gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Sindicious Lightning has scored more points in the clinch so far. A short right from Lightning. Lightning is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Walken can do to turn this around? Lightning prevents a body shot from Walken. Walken breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Lightning swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lightning drops Walken with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Walken looks back up at him and smiles so Lightning waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
