The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McRoberts has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Diu. Diu throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. McRoberts tries to clinch up. Nice body punch from Diu. McRoberts shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
It looks like Will McRoberts has been cut. McRoberts misses with a low kick. Diu lands a big head kick that sends McRoberts tumbling to the mat! Diu takes a step backwards and waves McRoberts back to his feet - he wants the finish!

McRoberts stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Diu. Nice body kick from Diu. McRoberts steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Diu. That one must have hurt. Diu dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on McRoberts. That did some damage! Diu works McRoberts's body with a nice hook. Diu lands with a thumping leg kick.

Diu throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Diu stuns McRoberts with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Diu feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McRoberts's calf. McRoberts fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A decent looking body kick lands there for Diu. Diu scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

McRoberts throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diu's waist but Diu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McRoberts off to one side. Gar Diu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will McRoberts. Diu lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Diu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McRoberts seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hannu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maxwell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hannu somewhat. Maxwell misses with a straight right. Maxwell moves into the clinch. Maxwell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hannu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Maxwell defends it nicely. Maxwell throws a jab but it's blocked by Hannu. Hannu throws a nice looking combination but Maxwell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Maxwell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hannu jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Maxwell walks away with a smile on his face. Hannu throws a chopping leg kick but Maxwell manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Maxwell throws a sloppy head kick and Hannu moves out of range easily. Hannu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Maxwell. Hannu tries to bum rush Maxwell with a series of wild strikes but Maxwell uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hannu darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Maxwell wants to get back to full guard. Hannu tries to pass to full mount but Maxwell defends it. Maxwell pushes Hannu off looking to stand but Hannu dives back in and keeps control.

Hannu doesn't defend quickly enough and Maxwell has managed to lock this one up! Can Hannu escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Maxwell on a fantastic submission victory.

eru throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sanchez wants to clinch. eru throws a series of punches but Sanchez avoids them all with ease. Sanchez moves into the clinch successfully.

Sanchez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. eru pushes off an throws an elbow but Sanchez leans to the side and avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. eru wants to break free but Sanchez has control.
