With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Akbar Emir! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Battlehammer with that takedown attempt. Battlehammer lands a jab-cross combination. Battlehammer dives in and grabs Emir's left leg, looking for a takedown. Emir pushes down on Battlehammer's head and hops out. The fight moves into the clinch position. Battlehammer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Emir pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thorvald Battlehammer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Emir wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Emir tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Emir is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Battlehammer to keep the fight standing. Emir working hard to break the clinch. Battlehammer is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Emir tries to land knees in the clinch but Battlehammer avoids the damage to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. Battlehammer tries to pull guard but Emir forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Emir fails to pull guard.
Emir tries to break free but Battlehammer pushes him back against the cage. Battlehammer is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Emir's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Emir wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Battlehammer wants a takedown but no success here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Battlehammer is trying to pull guard but Emir turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Battlehammer looking for a takedown. Battlehammer avoiding damage as Emir throws knees to the body.
Emir wants to stall.
Emir has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Emir can't find room to land a body shot as Battlehammer controls the action.
Emir jumps guard but Battlehammer turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Emir tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Battlehammer just stands there and leans against the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Emir throws a punch but it's blocked by Battlehammer.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thorvald Battlehammer. I think Battlehammer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willie Hayze! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Hayze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gracie trying to control the action but Hayze is working from the bottom. Gracie cracks Hayze with an elbow. That is naaassty. Hayze has one of Gracie's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Gracie has hold of Hayze's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hayze tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gracie cranks the arm and Hayze screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hayze, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Norman lands the left hand. Norman tries to clinch but Bob moves out of range. Norman clinches up against the cage. Norman misses with a punch on the inside.
Norman lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Norman is trying to maintain a safe position but Bob gets an underhook and turns Norman into the cage. Bob keeps control of Norman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. A short right from Bob. Norman lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Bob backwards. Norman changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bob fights it off and pushes away nicely.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bob creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Bob lands with a short head shot on the inside. Norman has Bob pushed against the cage. Bob breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bob moves in looking to clinch but Norman pushes him off. Norman throws a push kick but Bob slaps the foot to one side. Bob let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Norman avoids a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bob moves out of range of the body kick from Norman.

Norman will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bob up against the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brian Norman. Well Norman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
