Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dana Black ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Marino! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Black shoots in for a double leg but Marino sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Marino now looks to counter with a shot at the body. A nice combination there by Marino.
Black tries to clinch up but Marino circles away and keeps his distance. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Marino! But no joy. Black fails with the takedown and Marino counters with a left to the body. Black tries for a takedown but Marino circles away easily and Black takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dana Black . That's going to take a lot out of him. Black takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Marino scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Black wants to clinch letting Marino counter with a right hand. Dana Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Marino tries to keep at a distance but Black has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Black keeps control of Marino as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Marino effectively controlling the action here. Marino tries to break free but Black pushes him back against the cage. Marino is trying to break the clinch but Black is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Marino is trying to break free. Marino pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A momentary lapse in concentration from Marino enables Black to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Marino manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Black slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Black works to advance to full mount. Marino defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Marino defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Black . Black is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Marino is surviving well by controlling Black 's body position as best he can. Black is working for a guillotine from mount but Marino frees his head quite easily.
Marino really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marino defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Black . Black looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Black has hold of Marino's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Marino manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Black looking to secure an arm triangle but Marino defends it well. Marino prevents any damage by holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marino is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Black locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Marino is forced to tap!
