The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Scott shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Scott shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Scott throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Scott off to one side. Smith tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Great Scott.
