The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
It looks like Jose Lopez has been cut.
Lopez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Soul defends well and Lopez ends up having to push Soul into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Soul breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Soul lands a big head kick that sends Lopez tumbling to the mat! Soul takes a step backwards and waves Lopez back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Soul connects with a superb combination that knocks Lopez out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Soul before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Lopez!

With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe McConnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hadebrand Drachmann!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConnell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Drachmann manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McConnell moves to clinch but Drachmann breaks away
and McConnell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McConnell moves in looking to clinch but Drachmann pushes him off.
Drachmann throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Drachmann looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
McConnell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McConnell slaps away a takedown attempt from Drachmann, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McConnell wants to clinch but Drachmann slips to the side
and Drachmann counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We've been told by McConnell's head coaches at PhoQus Island Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Drachmann closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McConnell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Drachmann on the ground.
Drachmann moves into full mount!

Drachmann working for a guillotine from mount but McConnell is in no mood to give up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Drachmann forces the positional change into back control.

McConnell tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Drachmann has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! McConnell is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

After winning the bout, Hadebrand Drachmann thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.

Soaki gets caught napping as Vegas dives in and scores a takedown. Soaki manages to retain guard.
Vegas with a flurry of punches that miss.
Soaki managing to control the position.
Vegas throws a big right hand that misses.

Soaki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vegas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Vegas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Soaki is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Vegas lands a couple of digs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soaki is pulling down on Vegas's head to control his posture.
Soaki has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Soaki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Soaki seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Soaki keeping moving, preventing Vegas from controlling successfully.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Soaki holds on and takes a little breather.

Soaki is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Vegas has his hands clasped together but Soaki extends and breaks Vegas's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Soaki.
