1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Justina Vanovcan! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vanovcan shoots in for a takedown but Casada shows good takedown defense. Casada lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Casada misses with a takedown attempt so Vanovcan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Vanovcan preventing the sweep. Casada working a defensive guard here.
Vanovcan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Casada swivels though and keeps the full guard. Vanovcan with a flurry of punches that miss. Vanovcan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vanovcan pushing down on Casada's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Vanovcan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Casada with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Vanovcan passes the guard and advances to mount! Vanovcan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Vanovcan blocks Casada's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Vanovcan working away from the top, dropping strikes. A nice elbow there by Vanovcan. Vanovcan putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Casada is rocked! Vanovcan is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Vanovcan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pele shoots in but no luck this time. Kopaev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pele pinned against the cage. Pele gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kopaev forces Pele back against the cage and clinches. Kopaev breaks the clinch.
Kopaev misses with a takedown and Pele counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Kopaev is trying to stand.
Kopaev looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kopaev is refusing to be controlled, as Pele sits in half guard. Kopaev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pele pulls his head out easily. Kopaev wants to get back to his feet.
Pele seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kopaev is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Langestroem misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Gutz connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Marcus Langestroem has been cut. Gutz drops Langestroem with a beautiful combination! Langestroem stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gutz is looking for the KO!
Langestroem is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Langestroem is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gutz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Langestroem is still on wobbly legs! Can Gutz finish him? Langestroem defending well as Gutz loads up on a big left hand. Gutz throws a hook but Langestroem blocks it. Langestroem seems to have recovered his senses. Kaldric Gutz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Langestroem showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gutz.

That's one minute gone in the round. Langestroem takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Gutz loads up on a big right hand but Langestroem slips the punch. Gutz lands a left and a right that send Langestroem crashing to the mat, dazed. Gutz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Gutz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Langestroem takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Gutz throws a jab but it's blocked by Langestroem. Kaldric Gutz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gutz cracks a nice hook into Langestroem's ribs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gutz throws a series of punches but Langestroem avoids them all with ease. Gutz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Gutz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Gutz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Langestroem with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Langestroem has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Langestroem is looking to work some ground and pound but Gutz has wrist control. Gutz wants to stand and escape but Langestroem is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Langestroem lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Langestroem advances position into side control! Langestroem scoring with punches from side control. Gutz bucks up and tries to throw Langestroem off but instead Langestroem has got his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gutz wants to get back to his feet. Gutz is taking damage to the body and head. Gutz holding both Langestroem 's hands and preventing any damage. Langestroem lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Gutz.
Langestroem lands a shot to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gutz trying to get back to his feet but Langestroem is in full control for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Langestroem is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Langestroem gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Langestroem gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Langestroem apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Gutz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Gutz slaps away a takedown attempt from Langestroem, before circling back to the center of the mat. Langestroem moves out of range as Gutz strikes. Langestroem bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Langestroem takes one on the chin but seems OK.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Langestroem fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gutz avoids it really well and circles away. Gutz misses with a jab, cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Langestroem shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gutz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Gutz wants to stand and escape but Langestroem is having none of it. Langestroem working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gutz's head. Langestroem throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Langestroem wants to control from the top but Gutz keeps moving. Langestroem keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gutz's head. Langestroem stops Gutz from standing up. Langestroem with a nice head shot there. Langestroem with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gutz is looking to stand up but Langestroem isn't so interested in that idea. Gutz has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Langestroem off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutz connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Langestroem's hands. Langestroem fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gutz connects with the punch. Gutz throws a right hand that Langestroem ducks under and follows up with a left that Langestroem also avoids with ease. A big left from Gutz misses. Langestroem looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Gutz swinging wildly here.

"Ole!" shouts Gutz as he jumps to the side. Kaldric Gutz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Langestroem. Gutz misses with a straight right. Kaldric Gutz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Langestroem keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gutz. Langestroem shoots in and drives through. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Langestroem prevents Gutz from getting back to his feet. Langestroem works over Gutz with some ground and pound from guard. Gutz wants to get back to his feet but Langestroem is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Langestroem postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Langestroem's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Langestroem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gutz's waist but Gutz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Langestroem off to one side. Gutz jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gutz misses with an uppercut. Langestroem saw that one coming. Gutz throws a series of punches but Langestroem moves out of range. Gutz misses the shot to the body. Gutz looks to throw the jab but Langestroem is out of range. Gutz throws a shot from downtown. Langestroem moves away and avoids it. Langestroem shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Langestroem was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Langestroem lands a big elbow. Gutz is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Maleady controls Hathaway momentarily but Hathaway frees himself. Maleady throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

No, Hathaway has managed to get both his arms back between Maleady's legs - danger averted. Maleady keeping full guard, as Hathaway tries to pass. Hathaway trying to control the position from guard on top but Maleady is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maleady wants to stand but Hathaway is controlling the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hathaway accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hathaway drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hathaway jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Hathaway really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maleady. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hathaway wants to pass the guard but Maleady is keeping the position.

No, Maleady has managed to free his arm - good work. Maleady tries to get to full guard but Hathaway has control of the leg. Maleady is trying to maintain the position but Hathaway is very close to passing his half guard. Hathaway wants to pass to mount but Maleady is defending the position. Hathaway content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hathaway looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Maleady!

Maleady wants to hold on but Hathaway pushes him away. Hathaway looking to ground and pound but Maleady is blocking nicely. Hathaway tries to control but Maleady wriggling away. Hathaway thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Maleady tries to improve his position but instead Hathaway has taken his back! Maleady is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hathaway gets his way!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Maleady rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Maleady avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hathaway. Hathaway is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Maleady defends it well. Hathaway seems to be working for a kimura but Maleady defends the submission attempt. Hathaway looks gassed! Maleady actively working from the bottom here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maleady wants to control but Hathaway is keeping busy.
