Mills Throws a clean left jab. Mills Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Pogie's chin! Pogie crumbles to the ground and Mills follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Mills!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Baljak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carlier paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Carlier wants to counter the offense by Baljak and move into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carlier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Carlier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baljak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Derek throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Jordan's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Derek dives in looking to finish as Jordan flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Derek's strikes! Derek is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Jordan's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Jordan was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Adams looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! Maynard misses with a takedown attempt - Hughes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hughes feinted with a counter takedown.
Maynard throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Hughes connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Maynard scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hughes doesn't seem bothered though.
