Aragon on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Watts with the counter takedown but Aragon avoids it easily.

Watts feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Aragon wants to stand but Watts is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Watts got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aragon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Watts has managed to get both his arms back between Aragon's legs - danger averted.
Watts seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Watts decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Aragon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Watts's guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez throws a lazy uppercut

so Durham counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Durham stopping the sweep attempt from Chavez.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chavez working a defensive guard but Durham passes into half guard.

Durham is trying to work for a kimura but Chavez is defending well.

Durham is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Chavez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Durham is working away from the top position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Durham is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Durham wants to work for an arm triangle but Chavez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chavez is looking for a sweep. Durham is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chavez is positioning himself well to prevent Durham advancing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Durham seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Durham tries to pass the half guard into mount. Chavez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Chavez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Chavez moves into full guard.
Chavez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Durham is one step ahead there.
Durham controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

and Durham counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Durham is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chavez defends it well.

Chavez is trying to control but Durham passes into side control!
Chavez gets back to half guard.
Durham is thwarting Chavez's attempts to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Chavez swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Chavez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Durham slips a jab from Chavez.
Durham moves out of range of the strikes.
Chavez throws a hook but Durham avoids it easily.
Some bone on bone action there as Durham checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Chavez throws a front kick aimed at Durham's knee but Durham avoids it well.
Chavez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Durham shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Landin Durham has got the better of the ground game so far.
Durham trying to control the action but Chavez is working from the bottom.

Durham is looking for a kimura but Chavez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Durham to get the leverage.

Durham is working for an americana but Chavez has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Durham was thinking about the submission.
Chavez wants to sweep but no luck.
Chavez is pulling down on Durham's head to control his posture.
We've been informed that Durham has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Durham is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Chavez trying to keep a closed guard but Durham is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Durham is looking to advance position but Chavez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


Chavez goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Durham is on top in guard.
Durham stands and throws Chavez's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Chavez wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Durham seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Chavez is tapping! Wow, great finish!
