1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Pain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonny Do! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pain moves out of range of the leg kick from Do. Do wants to clinch up but Pain keeps it at a distance. Do shoots in for a takedown but Pain shows good takedown defense. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Do. No joy there for Do, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Do connects with a looping right hand.
Pain circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pain wants to clinch. A looping hook to the body misses from Do. Pain does a little dance to reset his feet. Do does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Pain stuffs the takedown attempt from Do. Do gets slowly back to his feet. Chuck Pain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Do. Do misses with the combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pain stuffs the takedown attempt from Do. Do gets slowly back to his feet. Do looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pain is fending him off so far but Do persists. Nope, Pain circles away and we're back to standing. Pain moves in looking to clinch but Do pushes him off. Jonny Do seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice takedown defense from Pain. No joy for Do on that attempt. Do closes the distance looking to clinch and Pain counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pain. Do changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Do has his takedown stuffed and Pain holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Do looks gassed! Pain stalling against the cage.
Do tries to land a knee to the head but Pain blocks with his arms.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pain takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Do. Pain throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Do is looking to control Pain's arms but Pain gets an underhook and turns him. Now Do has his back to the cage. A nice glancing elbow lands by Pain. Do tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Do avoids a wild elbow strike from Pain. Pain misses with an elbow strike.
Do blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Pain lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Jonny Do has been cut. Pain pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Do tries to break the clinch but Pain is controlling the position. Do has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Do wants to break the clinch but can't.
Do blocks an elbow strike from Pain.
Pain comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Knees in the clinch landing for Pain.
Do is looking to break free of the clinch but Pain has double underhooks. Nice elbow from Pain. Do wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pain displaying some good clinch control by pressing Do up against the cage. Do tries a knee to the head but Pain blocks it.
Pain lands an elbow inside that Do shrugs off.
That has opened up Jonny Do's cut even more. Pain lands a damaging elbow. Pain stalling against the cage.
Pain gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The cut above Jonny Do's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Pain controlling the action here for a moment.
Pain gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Pain lands an elbow just above Do 's eye.
Jonny Do's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jonny Do's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalez is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gonzalez slips under a jab from Inoue. Inoue looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Inoue misses with a two punch combination.
Akuma Inoue seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gonzalez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Inoue circles away quickly and effectively. Gonzalez missing with a left hand there. Inoue was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gonzalez throws a series of punches but Inoue moves out of range. Gonzalez moves out of range as Inoue strikes. Inoue fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Gonzalez jabbing away but nothing is landing. Gonzalez works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Gonzalez throws a right hand that Inoue ducks under and follows up with a left that Inoue also avoids with ease. Inoue scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gonzalez doesn't seem bothered though. Gonzalez smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
It looks like Akuma Inoue has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Inoue falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gonzalez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Inoue throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gonzalez counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Inoue has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shafiq Hussain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Smidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shafiq Hussain had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smidt avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smidt takes the fight into the clinch. Hussain wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smidt has him pressed against the cage. Hussain tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smidt smiles and moves away.
Hussain shoots in but Smidt avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hussain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smidt tries to avoid it but Hussain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smidt to the ground. Smidt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shafiq Hussain. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck for Hussain with that takedown attempt. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hornblower scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hornblower is working for a kimura but Cudi is defending it quite comfortably.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Decent striking displayed by Cudi there. Cudi lands the left hand. Hornblower feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Cudi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Hornblower seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Cudi looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hornblower puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cudi controls from within his opponent's guard. Cudi wants to control from the top but Hornblower keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hornblower has his foot on Cudi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cudi works his way back into a safe position though. Cudi trying to control the position from guard on top but Hornblower is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cudi stopping the sweep attempt from Hornblower. Cudi postures up.
Hornblower is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Cudi looking to sit in guard and control but Hornblower gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Hornblower stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cudi swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nathanial Hornblower dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hornblower looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cudi is fending him off so far but Hornblower persists. Nope, Cudi circles away and we're back to standing. Cudi displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Cudi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hornblower momentarily.
Cudi scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. The fighters circle momentarily. Cudi darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Hornblower shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cudi sprawls well. Cudi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hornblower gets slowly back to his feet. Cudi throws a sloppy head kick and Hornblower moves out of range easily. Cudi tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hornblower walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. A left and a right from Cudi both land. Nice combination. Hornblower tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cudi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hornblower somewhat. Kid Cudi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathanial Hornblower. Hornblower takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cudi dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hornblower fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Hornblower is breathing heavily. Cudi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hornblower stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Cudi throws out a powerful jab. Hornblower shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hornblower was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Cudi is trying desperately to improve position. Cudi is working hard here to advance position. Hornblower controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hornblower avoids the attempt from Cudi to control. Hornblower throws some wild stikes that Cudi manages to avoid easily.
Hornblower takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cudi sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Cudi wants to improve his position but Hornblower is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hornblower performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Hornblower trying to advance position but Cudi counters by regaining guard. Cudi working a defensive guard but Hornblower passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Hornblower looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Cudi pushes Hornblower off but Hornblower dives into side control.
Cudi being controlled for a moment. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hornblower misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Migashi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jitsu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Migashi lands a big uppercut and Jitsu crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Jitsu looks OK. Migashi waves Jitsu back to his feet!
