Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jae Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dalton Laxson! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laxson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Laxson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Lee shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Laxson eats them both and turns towards Lee to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Laxson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lee closes the distance and pushes Laxson back into the cage. Laxson tries for a takedown but Lee manages to get underhooks.
Jae Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dalton Laxson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee wants to break free but Laxson has control.

Laxson looking to throw knees to the head but Lee is blocking nicely.
Lee has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Laxson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Laxson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Laxson wants it to stay on the feet. Laxson throws a counter combo. Lee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Laxson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Laxson leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Lee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Laxson sprawls well. Laxson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lee gets slowly back to his feet. Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Laxson is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Laxson circles away and we're back to standing. Laxson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Lee will feel that in the morning. Lee is breathing heavily. Laxson slaps away a takedown attempt from Lee, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee fails to land the takedown. Jae Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Laxson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Laxson controlling from the top position. Let's hope that Laxson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee keeping moving, preventing Laxson from controlling successfully. Laxson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Laxson won't allow Lee to sweep him here. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Laxson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lee displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Lee is looking to clinch but Laxson is avoiding it.
Laxson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Laxson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Laxson is defended easily by Lee.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lee duly obliges. Laxson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Laxson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side. Lee wants to clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lee gets in close and instigates a clinch. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jae Lee will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lee closes the distance and clinches. Laxson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lee.
Lee drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lee is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Laxson is defending well. Laxson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Laxson stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jae Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Laxson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laxson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Laxson tries for a takedown but Lee circles away easily and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laxson tries to pull guard but Lee forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Lee tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Laxson lands a takedown into guard.
Laxson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lee trying to keep a closed guard but Laxson is proving a slippery customer.
Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Laxson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lee is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Laxson dives into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Laxson is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Laxson goes for an armbar but Lee turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lee. Laxson is trying to keep Lee in close.
Lee stands and steps away. Laxson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Lee avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Laxson is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee pushes Laxson up against the cage in a clinch. Laxson is working for takedown but Lee is calmly controlling the position for now. Lee is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Lee is looking for a takedown. Lee is trying to drag Laxson to the mat but Laxson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Come on Laxson - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Lee is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Dalton Laxson has got the better of the ground game so far. Lee can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Laxson controls the pace. Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Laxson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Laxson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. Laxson tries to sprawl out of it but Lee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Laxson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jae Lee will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Laxson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lee did well to prevent Laxson getting side control. Lee makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Laxson shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A combination from Lee does no damage. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lee. Lee shoots in but Laxson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Lee closes the distance and clinches up with Laxson, looking for a takedown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Laxson drives through with a takedown into Lee's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Laxson slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Laxson in particular looking to stall. Lee avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Laxson. Laxson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Lee tries to roll over but Laxson keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lee is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Laxson has latched onto it... Big trouble! Laxson pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Lee is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Laxson!

Messi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Messi is looking to advance position but Kormier won't allow it. Kormier is looking to escape. Messi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kormier has managed to free his arm - good work. Messi performing his best blanket impression for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kormier is trying to stand back up but Messi is controlling him
That's one minute gone in the round. Messi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kormier with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Messi trying to mount his opponent but Kormier defends it. Messi is keen to just control but Kormier is a slippery customer. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Messi chips away with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Messi wants to get up but he can't break Kormier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Kormier wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Kormier misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Messi slaps away a takedown attempt from Kormier, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kormier moves into the clinch successfully.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Kormier is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Messi can't fight it off and eventually Kormier manages to take the fight to the floor. Messi looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Messi is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kormier has his hands clasped together but Messi extends and breaks Kormier's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Messi.
