Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edward Rice (ranked 3004 p4p, 4327 weight class) and Matt Rose (ranked 345 p4p, 470 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Rice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Rose! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rice throws a body kick that misses and Rose counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rice! Rice is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rice is pushing Rose's head away, looking to escape. Rose manages to hold on to the position though. Rose tries to get to his feet but Rice is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Rose in his guard. Rose stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rice swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rice is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rice looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rose is in close to Rice's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rose is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Rice scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rose misses with a straight right. It looked like Rice was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Rice throws a head kick that half lands.
Rice tries to clinch but Rose moves out of range. Rose gets in close and instigates a clinch. Rose breaks from the clinch.
Rose circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rice shoots and misses and Rose counters with a nice double leg into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rose stops Rice from standing up. Rice working a defensive guard here.
Rose lands a couple of digs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rose pushing down on Rice's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Nice strikes from Rose there. Rice wants to get back to his feet.
Rose is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rose is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Rice looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rose slows the pace down in half guard. Rice is looking to improve his position.
Rose slips a nice elbow through Rice's hands, connecting with Rice's forehead. Rose is taking a breather. Rice says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Rose wants to stand up but Rice has a hold of him and won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rose controlling the action here. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Rose dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Rice lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rose instigates a clinch. Rose tries for a takedown but Rice manages to get underhooks.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Rice throws an elbow that misses.
Rice wants to stall.
Rose jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rice walks away with a smile on his face. Rose gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rose tries to clinch there but Rice circles away.
Rose fails with the takedown. Edward Rice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Rose. Rose tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rice manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rose has managed to clinch.
Rice lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Rice unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rose blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rose tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Rice breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Edward Rice is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rice throws a right and a left that both miss. Rice throws a head kick but Rose moves out of range.
Rice gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rose to score an easy takedown into full guard. Rice wants to stand but Rose is controlling the position. Rose controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice has Rose pulled in close to control his posture. Rice trying to keep a closed guard but Rose is proving a slippery customer.
Rose working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rice wants to stand up but Rose is controlling him. Rose content to stall in guard here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A low kick lands for Rice.
Rice misses with a two punch combination.
Rice displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rose. Rice rushes Rose and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Rice tries to land a knee to the head but Rose blocks with his arms.
Rice misses with an elbow over the top. Rose blocks the elbow strike.
Rice looking to slow down the pace here. Rose pulls guard successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rose manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Rose manages to break the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rice. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rice throws a nice head kick!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rose fails with a takedown attempt. Rice tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rose manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Rose has Rice up against the cage in a clinch.
Rose is trying to trip Rice. He has hold of a leg but Rice is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rose persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Rose distracts Rice with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rose works over Rice with some ground and pound from guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Edward Rice will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Rose fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rice, pushing him back against the cage. Rice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Good work by Rose as he checks the leg kick. Rose gets a takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rice wants to control but Rose is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Rose slows the pace down in half guard. Rose winds up and cracks Rice with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Rose tries to pass to full mount but Rice defends it. Rose is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rice! Rose looking to control and managing it successfully. Rose with a couple of short strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Rice that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rice tries to lock up and control but Rose gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Rice trying desperately to get to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rose has hold of Rice's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rice manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rice is trying to stand up. Rose postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rice looks a forlorn figure.
Rose controlling the pace for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rose with the ground and pound from mount. Rose moves to take his opponent's back. Matt Rose has got the better of the ground game so far. Rose has good solid back control here. Let's hope that Rose has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rice is trying to stand back up. Rose is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rice is defending well though. Rose let's go of the attempt for now. Rose working for a choke but Rice is defending well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rose biding his time, controlling Rice.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Rose comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Rose has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charles Drake! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marius Dabija! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drake fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Charles Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Drake cracks Dabija with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Drake throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dabija. A right-left combo lands from Drake. Drake darts in and out, connecting with a jab. A jab from Drake misses. Drake misses with a wild body shot. Dabija let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Drake lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dabija circles away quickly and effectively. Dabija doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Drake tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dabija was well out of range. Poor timing from Drake. Drake has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad MMA St Petersburg in the buildup to the fight. Drake throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Drake swings for the body but Dabija moves out of range.
Dabija now looks to counter with a shot at the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Drake tests Dabija's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drake looks to land a left hand but Dabija moved out of range nicely. Dabija throws out a counter right but Drake avoids it with no problem. Dabija uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Drake. Dabija doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Dabija takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Drake takes a swing at Dabija's ribcage but misses. Drake looks to score with a jab to the body but Dabija is just out of range. A nice side step and Dabija releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Drake throws a leg kick which misses Dabija's front leg but catches the back leg as Dabija tries to avoid it. Drake misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Drake takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Drake throws out a loose jab but Dabija uses good head movement to avoid it. Drake moves into range and connects with a jab. A punch lands to the side of Dabija 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drake scores with the left hand. Dabija knows he should have avoided that one. Dabija is rocked! Drake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Drake lands a hook that stumbles Dabija back into the cage. Drake follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Dabija to the canvas! Drake pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Dabija has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Charles Drake! Charles Drake bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.

Fat darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Fat drops Todd with a beautiful combination! Todd stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Fat is looking for the KO! Todd is rocked! Fat pounces like a tiger and cracks Todd with a vicious hook! Todd is down but not out! Fat follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Gilbert trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Thompson doesn't escape. Gilbert is punishing Thompson with some ground and pound. Thompson trying to get back to his feet but Gilbert is in full control for now. Gilbert is working the ground and pound. Can Thompson escape? That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Plier manages to pull guard.
Licker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Licker looking to pass the guard. Plier wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Plier is working an open guard so Licker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Toe Licker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Plier tries to clinch but Licker moves out of range. Licker shoots in for a double leg but Plier sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Licker misses with a hook to the body
and Plier counters with a nice uppercut. Licker lands with a nice combination. Plier backs away looking to recover. Plier avoids a punch combination nicely.
Licker looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Plier falls off balance throwing a combination

and Licker counters with a stiff right hand. Licker misses with a double jab.
Plier is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Licker tries to clinch up but Plier circles away and keeps his distance. Sloppy strikes from Licker. Those never looked like landing.

Plier shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Licker sprawls well. Licker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Plier gets slowly back to his feet. Licker throws a counter combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Plier. That's going to take a lot out of him. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Plier is defended easily by Licker. Licker stalks Plier and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Plier's face. Plier staggers backwards, shaken. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Toe Licker dominated that round. The cut man is working on Peter Plier's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Plier closes the distance and pushes Licker back into the cage. Licker has Plier pressed against the cage, preventing Plier from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Licker is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Licker has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Plier is trying to pull guard but Licker turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Plier pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A punch combination from Licker misses. Plier swats away the attempt to clinch by Licker. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Plier walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Licker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Plier attempts a counter takedown but Licker avoids it well and moves away.

Licker throws a right hand that Plier ducks under and follows up with a left that Plier also avoids with ease. Licker wants to clinch up but Plier keeps it at a distance. Licker gets in close and instigates a clinch. Licker avoiding damage as Plier throws knees to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. Plier fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Plier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Licker digs a right hand into Plier's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Plier's gas tank. Plier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Licker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Plier circles away quickly and effectively. Plier fires out a quick counter leg kick but Licker just manages to avoid it. No joy there for Licker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jacobsen connects with a nice short shot to Noor's temple. He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Noor tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Jacobsen!
