Montana has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Preston uses from the top position.

Vargas throws a hook to the side of Frost's head but Frost sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Frost drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vargas sprawls and moves away.
Vargas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Vargas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Frost manages to avoid it.
Frost tries to counter with a takedown but Vargas is quick to defend against it.
Vargas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Frost half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Vargas looks to land a right hand but Frost moved out of range.
Frost attempts a counter takedown but Vargas avoids it well and moves away.
Frost moves out of range as Vargas strikes.
Frost tries to counter with a takedown but Vargas is quick to defend against it.

Frost dives in and scores a takedown into Vargas's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frost's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Frost drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Frost jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vargas can do anything to dispel that myth.
Vargas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Frost seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Vargas looks to land a right hand but Frost moved out of range.
Frost drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vargas sprawls and moves away.
Frost shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vargas defends it nicely.
Frost dives in and grabs Vargas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vargas pushes down on Frost's head and hops out.
Frost walks into a left hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vargas cracks Frost with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Vargas scores with a jab to the body.
Vargas throws an off balance right hand

and Frost counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Vargas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Frost controlling from the top position.
Frost might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vargas working a defensive guard but Frost manages to pass into side control anyway.

Frost remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Vargas prevents Frost from moving into mount.
Frost slows the pace down.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Eric Frost will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Frost changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Vargas just misses with a punch to the body.
Frost steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vargas.
Frost blocks a jab.

Frost drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Frost seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vargas for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frost stands and throws Vargas's legs to the side, diving into side control.
A lull in the action here as Frost stalls from top position.
Vargas tries to improve position but can't.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Frost is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vargas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Frost controlling the position from side mount.
Frost working away.
Vargas seems a little lost for a moment, as Frost dominates the positioning.
Frost tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vargas's legs.

Frost has hold of Vargas's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Vargas tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Frost cranks the arm and Vargas screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Vargas, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Eric Frost!
