Vinkovic drops Bayou with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bayou looks back up at him and smiles so Vinkovic waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Vinkovic dropped down on all fours and is barking in Bayou's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Cruz swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Marsh works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Cruz thows a left - swing and a miss!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Marsh counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Marsh counters with a left and a right that stings Cruz.
Marsh bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A little jabbing left from Marsh on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Marsh lands with an uppercut that bounces Cruz off the cage and back into range.
Cruz slips a straight right by Marsh.
Marsh throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cruz on the side of the head.

Marsh lands a big right hand that sends Cruz crashing to the mat! Marsh stays standing though and waves Cruz back to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marsh throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cruz counters with a stiff right hand.
Marsh gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Cruz gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Santa Cruz!
Santa Cruz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

A quick step to the side and Bjornsson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
