Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colby Covigten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Augusto Jufre! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Covigten tries to clinch there but Jufre circles away.
Jufre shapes to counter with a head kick. A shot to the liver by Jufre. Beautiful body shot. Covigten misses with a jab, cross combination.

Covigten doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Jufre swats away the attempt to clinch by Covigten. Jufre tries a quick counter leg kick but Covigten is wise to it. Covigten throws a head kick but Jufre moves out of range.

It looks like Colby Covigten has been cut. Jufre dodges the punch combination from Covigten.
This has been an exciting period of action! Covigten tries to score with a low kick but Jufre moves his leg out of the way. Jufre darts in and clinches Covigten up against the ropes. Jufre manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Covigten looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Covigten misses with an uppercut. Covigten misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Covigten gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jufre to score an easy takedown into full guard. Jufre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Covigten. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jufre prevents Covigten from getting back to his feet.

Covigten is trying to force a seperation but Jufre has the dominant position. Jufre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jufre gets in close and instigates a clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Jufre pulls guard effortlessly. Covigten trying to control the position from guard on top but Jufre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jufre is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Covigten throws a big elbow that misses. Jufre working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Covigten. Covigten looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Jufre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Covigten stands up over Jufre, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Covigten missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jufre looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jufre has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Covigten is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jufre. Covigten is looking to take a break and control but Jufre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Covigten grinds an elbow into Jufre's temple.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Covigten is putting a hurting on Jufre here, landing some big shots from side control. Covigten sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jufre is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Covigten has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jufre is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The strikes coming from Covigten are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Covigten throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Covigten trying to control the position but Jufre is working away. Covigten throwing strikes but Jufre manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Covigten tries to get out of the position. Jufre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Covigten is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Covigten is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jufre asserts his dominance and retains side control. You can see the frustration on Covigten's face as Jufre controls the position.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jufre wants to lay and pray for a moment but Covigten keeps working. Jufre tries to advance to mount but Covigten instead regains half guard. Jufre is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Covigten is just riding it out for now. Jufre eventually gives up the hold.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Jufre tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Covigten. Covigten is trying to stand back up but Jufre is controlling him
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Covigten manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jufre keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the ropes. Covigten wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Augusto Jufre dominated that round. The cut man is working on Colby Covigten's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round! Covigten misses with a wild combination.

Covigten is looking to break free of the clinch but Jufre has double underhooks. Covigten has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Covigten tries to stall but Jufre uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A frustrated look appears on Covigten's face as he tries to break the clinch. Covigten tries to land knees in the clinch but Jufre avoids the damage to the body. Jufre escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jufre has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Covigten uses from the top position. Covigten trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Covigten accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jufre is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Covigten is controlling him. Jufre is trying to control the position but Covigten postures up. Covigten throws a combination that misses and Jufre counters with a thumping low kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Covigten wants to land a leg kick but Jufre is out of range. Covigten has closed the distance and engaged Jufre in a clinch.
Jufre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Covigten walks away with a smile on his face. Jufre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Colby Covigten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augusto Jufre. Jufre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Covigten swats him away and circles back towards the center. It looked like Covigten was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Colby Covigten is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Covigten throws the kick towards the body but Jufre avoids it. Jufre scores with a three punch combo!

That's six minutes gone in the round. Covigten breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Covigten throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A nice side step and Jufre releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Covigten misses with a double jab
and Jufre counters with a one-two to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Covigten circles away from the clinch attempt.

We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Krupa can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones wants to control but Krupa is keeping him busy. Krupa is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jones asserts his dominance and retains side control. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krupa keeps working. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Jones has hold of Krupa's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Krupa tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jones cranks the arm and Krupa screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Krupa, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
