We've been told by Banner's head coaches at Rabid Dog that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Tanaka tries for a takedown but Banner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tanaka tries to clinch up but Banner circles away and keeps his distance. It looked like Banner was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tanaka. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Tanaka lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Banner has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Banner and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Tanaka dodges the punch combination from Banner.

Lamont Banner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daichi Tanaka. A big right from Tanaka misses. Tanaka throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Banner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Tanaka moves into the clinch successfully.

Banner is looking to break free of the clinch but Tanaka has double underhooks. Tanaka is struggling to control the position. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
