Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Smack! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stanislaw Wolecki! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smack throws a head kick that Wolecki semi-blocks.
Wolecki instigates a clinch. Wolecki has Smack pressed against the cage, preventing Smack from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Smack tries to circle away but Wolecki has him pinned against the cage. Smack is trying to force a seperation but Wolecki has the dominant position. Wolecki tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smack just stands there and leans against the cage. Smack utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Smack working hard to break the clinch. Wolecki is looking for a takedown. Smack throws a head punch that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buster throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. We've been told by Szobo's head coaches at Gumburcules Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Buster throws a sloppy head kick and Szobo moves out of range easily. A head kick misses from Buster. Szobo jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Szobo misses with a takedown attempt - Buster sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Buster throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Szobo half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Buster throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Szobo avoids the head kick by Buster.
No joy there for Buster, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
