Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alonso Jaldo (ranked 4436 p4p, 25295 weight class) and Sullivan Gross (ranked 377 p4p, 425 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alonso Jaldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sullivan Gross! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Hemmingworth and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jaldo lands a jab to the nose. Gross avoids a lazy jab quite easily. That kick from Jaldo tenderised Gross's leg. Gross is trying to keep his angry face on. Jaldo tries to clinch up but Gross circles away and keeps his distance. Gross feints the counter takedown. Gross looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gross darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Gross passes to side control. Gross tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Gross wants to control but Jaldo is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jaldo sneaks out the side door and pushes Gross away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Alonso Jaldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice takedown defense from Jaldo. No joy for Gross on that attempt. Gross avoids a kick to the body.

He's got his arms around Jaldo's waist but Jaldo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gross off to one side. Gross takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Jaldo throws a leg kick which misses Gross's front leg but catches the back leg as Gross tries to avoid it. Gross's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. The crowd cheers as Jaldo lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gross doesn't seem phased though. Gross misses with a head kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gross takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Jaldo keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Good exchange - Jaldo coming out on top. Jaldo catches Gross with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Gross is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Stein is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Stein moves nicely into side control. Stein controlling the position. Stein has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maia is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stein off and has taken his back! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Stein stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stein wants it to stay on the feet. Stein is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Maia shoots in looking for a takedown. Stein tries to sprawl out of it but Maia keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stein manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Stein sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Franklin Stein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Maia. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maia fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Maia has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Demian Maia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos stuns Inventius with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. A jab from Santos misses. As Santos backs away, Inventius returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Joao Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santos dives in and scores a takedown into Inventius's guard. Inventius seems keen to control Santos's posture. Santos looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Shamrock sees it coming and avoids it easily. Shamrock closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Macho Man's guard. Shamrock lands a couple of elbows. Shamrock throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Shamrock content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Macho Man is pushing down on Shamrock's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shamrock is fighting to maintain full guard but Macho Man has managed to sneak the leg through. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Shamrock looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Macho Man uses his free foot to push down on Shamrock's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shamrock. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Macho Man looking to control and managing it successfully.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Macho Man has control of Shamrock's left arm, preventing Shamrock from doing any damage. Shamrock looking to sit in guard and control but Macho Man gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shamrock looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Macho Man is defending well. Shamrock quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Macho Man has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast!
