Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Ribeiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, jj Starky! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ribeiro takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Starky fails with an attempt to clinch.
Starky is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Starky fakes the leg kick and cracks Ribeiro in the body. Starky darts in and clinches Ribeiro up against the cage. Ribeiro decides to pull guard. Ribeiro is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Starky trying to control the position from guard on top but Ribeiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Starky looking to sit in guard and control but Ribeiro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Starky tries to land a sweep but no joy. Starky looking to control.
Starky might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ribeiro haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Ribeiro is stalling in the full guard. Starky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ribeiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ribeiro looking to pass the guard. Starky is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Starky striking off his back but it's not causing Ribeiro any problems. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Starky is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Starky wants to pass the guard but Ribeiro is keeping the position. Starky is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Starky wants to control from the top but Ribeiro keeps moving. Ribeiro kicks Starky off and gets to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Starky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ribeiro swats him away and circles back towards the center. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ribeiro. Starky tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Ribeiro takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Starky really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Ribeiro has control of Starky's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Starky regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ribeiro tries to control but Starky wriggling away. Ribeiro controlling his opponent. Starky tries to hold on but Ribeiro postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ribeiro controlling his opponent. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ribeiro manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Starky on his heels. He'll look to pass Starky's guard now, I'm sure. Ribeiro seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Starky working a defensive guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Starky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ribeiro is one step ahead there. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Starky is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ribeiro defends well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Starky throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ribeiro drives through with a takedown into guard. Starky is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ribeiro controls from within his opponent's guard. Ribeiro passes Starky's left leg - he's now in half guard. Starky is trying to control but can't.
Ribeiro looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Well, if Ribeiro is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza Yum. Can't wait.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Starky throws a head kick that misses and Ribeiro counters with a single leg into guard. Starky didn't expect that. Starky is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ribeiro dives into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Starky tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ribeiro controlling from mount. Ribeiro looking for a guillotine from mount but Starky is having none of it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Ribeiro dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Ribeiro stuffs the takedown. Left hook, right uppercut from Starky. Starky throws a sloppy head kick and Ribeiro moves out of range easily. Starky moves in looking to clinch but Ribeiro pushes him off. Ribeiro is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Starky can do to turn this around? Starky tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ribeiro manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Starky scores with a one two! Ribeiro had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Starky shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ribeiro sprawls well. Ribeiro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Starky gets slowly back to his feet. Ribeiro tries to counter with a takedown but Starky is quick to defend against it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ribeiro fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Starky to the ground. Ribeiro is now in Starky's guard. Starky takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ribeiro stays in close to Starky's body and controls the position. Ribeiro gets to his feet - Starky follows without any prompting. Starky shoots and misses and Ribeiro counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Charles Ribeiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jj Starky. Ribeiro has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Starky is trying to keep an underhook but Ribeiro manages to get the takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Starky wants to get back to full guard. Ribeiro slows the pace down in half guard. Starky wants to control but Ribeiro is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ribeiro is working for a kimura but Starky is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ribeiro is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Starky sees it coming and defends easily. Starky looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ribeiro connects with a nice short shot to Starky's temple. Ribeiro perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Starky looking for submissions off his back. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ribeiro keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Starky tries to clinch up and Ribeiro counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Charles Ribeiro showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ribeiro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
