Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodney Bates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Michaels! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michaels will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bates rushes Michaels and presses him up against the cage. Bates has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Michaels is trying to keep an underhook but Bates manages to get the takedown into half guard. Michaels is trying to escape back to his feet but Bates uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Bates knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Michaels on the ground. Bates looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Michaels is not content to let Bates control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Michaels is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bates decides to stand back up. Michaels darts in looking for a takedown but Bates gets double underhooks and turns Michaels into the cage. Bates gets in close and instigates a clinch. Our sources have told us that Bates has been working on his elbows in the gym. Bates effectively controlling the action here. Michaels with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Bates breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Michaels goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bates prevents it.
Rodney Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Michaels.

Bates stays in close to Michaels's body and controls the position. Bates stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manfred Kaum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Samson! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Samson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Samson getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Kaum throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Samson throws a counter combo. A nice leg kick from Kaum, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kaum tries to land a front kick but Samson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Samson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jack Samson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Samson circles away from the clinch attempt and Samson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Samson. Kaum is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Samson throws a strike but Kaum rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Samson wants to sweep here but Kaum controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Samson has control of Kaum's left arm, preventing Kaum from doing any damage. Kaum stopping the sweep attempt from Samson. Kaum wants to control from the top but Samson keeps moving.

Samson pulls Kaum in close to prevent any damage. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Kaum wants to control from the top but Samson keeps moving.

Samson is rocked! Kaum ducks under a wild hook from Samson. Samson is still on wobbly legs! Can Kaum finish him? A good leg kick by Kaum. Kaum scores with a push kick. Samson looks winded! Kaum throws a nice outside leg kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Kaum looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kaum darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Samson's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Kaum before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hanma to score with a decent uppercut. Hanma looks to throw the jab but Game is out of range. Game now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Hanma takes a swing at Game's ribcage but misses. Hanma takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Game swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hanma. Hanma has taken the fight to the clinch.

and Game connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. It looks like Yuujirou Hanma has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hanma tries a low kick but Game avoids it. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Game! But no joy. Yuujirou Hanma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Hanma, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Game stuns Hanma with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Game punishes Hanma's body with a nice straight punch. Hanma is breathing heavily. Game looks to land a combination but Hanma avoids it well. Game dips to his left and cracks Hanma with an uppercut! A lazy left from Hanma finds it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanma throws a sloppy head kick letting Game counter with a right hand. Game connects with a body shot. Game swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Game lands a big right hand that sends Hanma crashing to the mat! Game stays standing though and waves Hanma back to his feet! Hanma is rocked! Game ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Hanma's jaw. Hanma's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Game does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Retsu misses with a shot to the body and Proctor counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Retsu throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Retsu misses the body punch and Proctor counters with a lovely straight right hand! Retsu pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Retsu looks to land a combination. Proctor sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Proctor takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Retsu throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Proctor. Retsu misses with a head kick.

Will he be able to recover?!! Retsu throws a lazy head kick and Proctor counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Proctor fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Retsu to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Retsu looks to clinch but Proctor throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Retsu taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Paul Proctor! Paul Proctor really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that BANZAI NUTRITION logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sayonara Koivupuunoksa will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning.
