Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonas Kahnwald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Walter Conway! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Conway shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kahnwald connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Conway tries for a takedown but Kahnwald sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conway goes for a double leg but Kahnwald avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kahnwald continues to drive forward. Kahnwald tries to counter with a takedown but Conway is quick to defend against it. Jonas Kahnwald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter Conway. Kahnwald lands a jab to the nose. Kahnwald looks for a takedown but Conway sprawls well. Conway wants to counter with a clinch but Kahnwald pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Conway feints and as Kahnwald raises his hands in defense, Conway changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Kahnwald pushes a forearm under Conway's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Conway is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
