Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Zelecki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Zelecki counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Our spies down at at Bigfoot BJJ inform us that Gracie has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Gracie looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Zelecki is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gracie has his foot on Zelecki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zelecki works his way back into a safe position though.

Zelecki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Zelecki has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Zelecki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Zelecki finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Zelecki is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Zelecki seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gracie for as long as he can get away with.

Gracie is looking for a sweep.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Zelecki decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rafael Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zelecki dives in and scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Zelecki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Zelecki's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Zelecki closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Zelecki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zelecki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Zelecki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Zelecki is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Zelecki passes into side control, despite Gracie's attempt to control the position.
Gracie seems a little lost for a moment, as Zelecki dominates the positioning.
Zelecki tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gracie's legs.
Zelecki is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Gracie tries to bench press Zelecki off him but Zelecki keeps the position.
Gracie stops Zelecki from passing to mount.
Zelecki content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Zelecki decides to stand back up. Zelecki steps back and let's Gracie get back to his feet.

Zelecki has Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.

Zelecki gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Gracie is in trouble now - Zelecki has advanced to mount!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Gracie gets caught napping as Zelecki dives in and scores a takedown. Gracie manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zelecki seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Zelecki continues to stall.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Zelecki is stinking the place up with his stalling.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Zelecki.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gracie is looking to improve his position.

Gracie has a hand on Zelecki's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Zelecki takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Zelecki tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zelecki manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gracie to take his back!

Zelecki controls the action.
Gracie wants to escape the position.
Gracie is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
More hug and hope from Zelecki.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Zelecki is not going to allow Gracie to sit and survive in this position.
Zelecki just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
