Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andre Sousa (ranked 3831 p4p, 24610 weight class) and Chris Suns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Sousa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Suns! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sousa darts in looking for a takedown but Suns gets double underhooks and turns Sousa into the cage. Suns looks like he wants to counter punch here. Sousa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Andre Sousa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Suns shoots in but no luck this time. Sousa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Suns misses with a hook. Sousa throws a head kick but Suns moves out of range.
Sousa misses with a takedown and Suns counters with a shoot takedown. Sousa fights it but they end up in guard. Sousa pushes Suns off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Sousa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice takedown defense from Suns. No joy for Sousa on that attempt. Suns shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sousa defends it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suns wants to clinch but Sousa slips to the side and Sousa counters with a nice leg kick. Suns wants to slow Sousa down by chopping away at his legs. Suns drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Sousa is controlling Suns's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sousa looking for a guillotine here but Suns defends easily.
Suns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sousa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sousa is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Suns must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sousa working for a triangle but Suns defends it easily.
Suns stays in close to Sousa's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suns decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Suns shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Suns showed some decent athleticism there. Sousa actively working from the bottom here. Sousa trying to hold on to Suns's head to control him but Suns postures up.
Suns is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Suns postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sousa to stand up. A jab from Suns misses. Suns defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sousa. Sousa clinches up against the cage. Sousa is pressed up against the cage. Suns has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sousa down to the mat. Sousa avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Suns bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sousa can't do much from the bottom here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Chris Suns will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Sousa connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Sousa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sousa has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sousa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sousa tries to close the distance and clinch but Suns swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sousa shoots in but no luck this time. Despite the aggression on Suns's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Suns drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Suns wants to stand but Sousa is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sousa has his foot on Suns's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Suns works his way back into a safe position though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Suns closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Suns lands in his opponent's guard. Sousa pushes Suns off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Sousa tries for a takedown but Suns circles away easily and Suns counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Sousa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sousa drives through and clinches with Suns against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suns tries to score a body lock takedown but Sousa shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Suns goes for a takedown attempt but Sousa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sousa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Suns's waist but Suns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sousa off to one side. Suns is looking for the big counter here. Suns looking to score a takedown here. Sousa is defending well but Suns drives through and ends up in Sousa's guard. Sousa has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Suns is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Sousa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Suns blocks it with crossed arms. Sousa jumps guard but Suns stands there with Sousa around his waist. Sousa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sousa is looking to take this one to the mat. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Sousa.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sousa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Suns up against the cage. Suns jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sousa walks away with a smile on his face. Suns gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Suns leaves Sousa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sousa swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
so Suns counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Sousa pushes Suns off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Andre Sousa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sousa stuffs the takedown. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Sousa dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round! Sousa takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Sousa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Suns wants to clinch up but Sousa keeps it at a distance. A lazy left from Suns finds it's target. Sousa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Suns but Suns pushes him off and we're back to square one. Suns throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sousa was covering up waiting for the punch and Suns finishes the takedown easily into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sousa looking to control.
Sousa pulls Suns in close to prevent any damage. Suns is in close to Sousa's body, working some short punches and elbows. Suns slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sousa throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Sousa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Suns paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sousa instigates a clinch. Suns is trying to pull guard but Sousa has him pressed against the cage. Sousa breaks the clinch.
Sousa has his takedown stuffed and Suns counters with a left and a right that stings Sousa. Sousa looks to throw a body kick and Suns counters with a takedown into side control. Sousa sneaks out the side door and pushes Suns away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suns scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Sousa being controlled for a moment. Sousa is looking to regain half guard here but Suns keeps moving and retains side control. Andre Sousa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sousa wants to control but Suns postures up. Sousa trying to remain calm as Suns controls from the top position. Sousa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Suns's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Sousa trying to control but Suns postures up.
Suns is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Suns trying to control from half guard but Sousa is working away.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
