Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kai James (ranked 3879 p4p, 2966 weight class) and Kameron Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vega has chosen Bye bye as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kai James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kameron Vega! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vega. James has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. It looks like Kai James has been cut. Vega changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. It looks like Vega might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Vega's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vega decides to stand up, so the ref orders James to his feet. Vega uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James. Vega is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Vega misses with an attempted mid kick.

Vega throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. James tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Vega manages to circle out of the way.
That's one minute gone in the round. James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Vega is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. James working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Vega has passed into half guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Vega stalling. Vega prevents James from improving his position. James is defending against the submission attempts here by Vega.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vega stands up out of the half guard. James scores with a punch to the head. James stuffs the takedown attempt from Vega. Vega gets slowly back to his feet. Vega scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Vega looks winded! James trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Vega manages to pass to mount!
Vega content just to control the position here. The referee warns James that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vega moves to take his opponent's back. James trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Vega has the hooks in. James is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vega biding his time, controlling James. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kameron Vega dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kai James's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! James lands with a good body shot. Vega slips under a jab. Vega unleashes a big counter combination but James bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. James lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. James throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vega sees it coming and avoids it easily. A head kick misses from Vega. Vega looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Vega persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing. James tries to clinch up. Vega ducks under a wild hook from James. Vega darts in looking for a takedown but James gets double underhooks and turns Vega into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James jabs Vega right on the nose. Vega blinks but takes it well. It looks like Kameron Vega has been cut. Vega closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. James quickly recovers to half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Vega is breathing heavily. James wants to improve his position but Vega is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. James avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Vega. James looking for submissions from an awkward position here. James wants to get back to full guard but Vega has passed into side control. Vega scoring with punches and elbows. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Vega works to advance to full mount. James defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. James working to try and regain half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Vega working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Vega looking to control and managing it successfully. The referee warns James that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vega tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Vega works his way to his opponent's back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vega is riding his opponent, not letting James buck him off. James is trying to roll into a better position but Vega has get a rear naked choke and James is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kameron Vega! A determined Kameron Vega didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
