Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Baki Hanma (ranked 24739 p4p, 5010 weight class) and Walker Mathis (ranked 390 p4p, 358 weight class). Walker Mathis struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Walker Mathis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Baki Hanma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Walker Mathis! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by Hanma there. Mathis moves out of range of the body kick. Mathis lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Mathis has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Mathis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Horrible takedown attempt by Mathis or perhaps it was just good defense by Hanma, which made it look bad. Hanma digs a good body shot into Mathis's ribs. Hanma misses with a hook. Mathis misses with a takedown and Hanma counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Baki Hanma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walker Mathis.

Hanma tries to bum rush Mathis with a series of wild strikes but Mathis uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hanma connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mathis's hands. Walker Mathis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hanma with the inside leg kick. Hanma is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mathis can do to turn this around? Hanma fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hanma sizes up Mathis with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Hanma feints a jab promting Mathis to slip. Hanma then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mathis slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Hanma slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Hanma misses with an uppercut. Mathis saw that one coming. Hanma stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hanma wants it to stay on the feet. Hanma connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Hanma takes a swing at Mathis's ribcage but misses. Mathis avoids the head kick by Hanma.
Hanma throws a quick inside leg kick. Hanma throws a hook but Mathis blocks it. Mathis changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Mathis tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
And that's the end of the fight! Baki Hanma showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hanma, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
