Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rufus Dugout! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 47 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mario Benedetti! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dugout throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dugout looks to land a combination but Benedetti avoids it well. Dugout misses with a hook
and Benedetti counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Benedetti. Benedetti drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dugout looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dugout looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dugout! Benedetti can't do much from the bottom here. Benedetti manages to get back to half guard. Benedetti controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Benedetti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benedetti is concentrating on defense, preventing Dugout from advancing position. Benedetti is not content to let Dugout control the position. Benedetti slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Benedetti is controlling Dugout's posture. Dugout throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Benedetti works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Dugout looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Dugout wants to control from the top but Benedetti keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dugout looking to sit in guard and control but Benedetti gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Benedetti controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dugout is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Benedetti throwing strikes but missing. Benedetti controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benedetti got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dugout has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Benedetti has managed to get both his arms back between Dugout's legs - danger averted. Benedetti tries to free his leg and advance position but Dugout is retaining full guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Benedetti pushing down on Dugout's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Benedetti missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Benedetti decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Dugout lands a jab to the head.
Dugout misses the body punch and Benedetti counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Dugout throws a right and a left that both miss. Benedetti steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Dugout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Dugout misses. Dugout throws an off balance right hand
and Benedetti counters with a takedown into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! You can see the frustration on Dugout's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. A lull in the action here. Benedetti's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Dugout managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Benedetti.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mario Benedetti will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Dugout is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Benedetti wants to pass the guard but Dugout is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Dugout looking for a sweep but Benedetti has passed into full mount! Oh no! Benedetti has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dugout working to try and regain half guard.

Dugout looks to land a right hand but Benedetti moved out of range. Benedetti wants to counter with a clinch but Dugout pushes him away. Benedetti walks into a left hand. Benedetti shoots in and gets a takedown into Dugout's guard. Dugout is trying to keep Benedetti in close.

Dugout is holding on for now. Dugout is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Benedetti perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Benedetti with more of the same as he continues to hold on. Benedetti is continuing to stall.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Dugout swings for the body but Benedetti moves out of range.
Benedetti goes for a double leg but Dugout avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dugout continues to drive forward. Dugout fails to land with a series of punches.
Benedetti takes the fight into the clinch. Benedetti's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Benedetti gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dugout works his way to full guard. Good work. Dugout trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Benedetti looking to pass the guard. Benedetti is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dugout is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Benedetti defends well.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Dugout lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Benedetti circles away quickly and effectively. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Benedetti shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Benedetti was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dugout tries to improve position but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Mario Benedetti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Benedetti winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
