Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karter Carey (ranked 3851 p4p, 2713 weight class) and Marcos Pencho (ranked 413 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Karter Carey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcos Pencho! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pencho drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Carey trying to control the position here. Carey looking for a sweep. Not yet Carey, not yet. Carey wants to stand up but Pencho is controlling him. Pencho looking to pass the guard. Pencho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pencho has managed to get both his arms back between Carey's legs - danger averted. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pencho engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Carey is working an open guard so Pencho takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pencho shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carey as he avoids it easily. Carey is looking for a counter combo. Carey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pencho, pushing him back against the cage. Pencho ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pencho no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Carey controls from within his opponent's guard. Pencho looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Carey won't allow Pencho to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carey stands up from Pencho's guard - Carey perhaps looking for a knockout. Carey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pencho displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carey. Pencho dives in and grabs Carey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carey pushes down on Pencho's head and hops out. Carey dives in for a single leg takedown but Pencho sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karter Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pencho breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice takedown defense from Carey. No joy for Pencho on that attempt. Pencho rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carey moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Carey pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Pencho back to the cage. Carey follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pencho fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carey avoids it really well and circles away. Pencho gets off balance looking for a body kick and Carey counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Carey gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Pencho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carey's waist but Carey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pencho off to one side. Carey tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Pencho manages to circle out of the way. Pencho looks winded! Carey bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pencho gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Carey manages to capitalize on a mistake by Pencho to take his back! Carey is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Carey is hanging on to Pencho's back as he tries to escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pencho needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation. Carey is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pencho knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pencho for a finish. Pencho trying to control the hands but Carey breaks the grip. Carey has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Pencho's body.
Pencho just trying to survive but Carey is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Karter Carey dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Pencho throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Carey looking to score a takedown here. Pencho is defending well but Carey drives through and ends up in Pencho's guard. Pencho can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carey controls the pace. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pencho is on top in guard.
Carey is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pencho lands a couple of digs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pencho stopping the sweep attempt from Carey. Pencho decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Carey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pencho gets in close and instigates a clinch. Pencho is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carey gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Pencho can't get the takedown.
Carey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Carey stuffs the takedown attempt from Pencho. Pencho gets slowly back to his feet. Karter Carey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcos Pencho.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pencho fails with a takedown attempt. Pencho is breathing heavily. Carey tries to clinch up but Pencho circles away and keeps his distance. And Pencho tries to counter it with a takedown but Carey pushes his down on his head and steps out. Pencho with a poor takedown and Pencho takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Carey drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Pencho wants to get back to his feet but Carey passes into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carey sitting and controlling from the half guard. Karter Carey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pencho trying to hold on to Carey's head to control him but Carey postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pencho wants to get back to his feet. Pencho is defending against the submission attempts here by Carey.
Pencho tries to roll over but Carey keeps him under control. Pencho is trying to control but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Carey lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Carey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Pencho is looking to improve his position.
Carey tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pencho knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pencho is trying to stand up here but Carey is controlling him well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Karter Carey dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Carey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pencho paws at him with a jab and circles away. Pencho stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pencho wants it to stay on the feet. Carey keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Carey bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carey controls the position from side control. Carey misses with the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pencho gets back to half guard. Pencho is looking to control Carey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pencho avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Pencho looks like he's trying to stand up.
Carey wants to take a breather but Pencho is having none of it. Carey seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pencho kicks Carey off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carey closes the distance and pushes Pencho back into the cage. Pencho can't get the takedown.
Carey gets underhooks to prevent Pencho's takedown attempt.
Pencho breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pencho throws a jab but it's blocked by Carey. Pencho tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Pencho fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Karter Carey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcos Pencho. Pencho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Carey closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pencho quickly recovers to half guard. Carey trying to pass the guard but Pencho defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pencho tries to roll over but Carey keeps him under control. Carey wants to stand up but Pencho has a hold of him and won't allow it. Carey controlling the action here. Carey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pencho can do to turn this around? Pencho slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Pencho throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Carey trying to control but Pencho is working from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Karter Carey is winning the standup battle so far. Pencho misses with a double jab
and Carey counters by clinching up. Pencho fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pencho walks away with a smile on his face. Carey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Pencho throws a wild body kick that Carey sees coming a mile off. Carey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pencho sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carey somewhat.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Marcos Pencho. Well Carey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
